Anthony Gardiner who we loaned from Spurs never played despite being a signing in January 2008 and had an England cap!

I think its also true that despite Senderos' lack of gametime due to injuries, we never conceded whilst he was on the pitch. Could be wrong through.

Was thinking about him as obviously we signed him on a short-term contract was it before the 85 final. But those were the days of only 1 or 2 subs for league games, might have made the bench in a European game in the 80s though.

Pat Jennings was signed on a short term contract before the 86 final. He would not have featured in Europe for the Blues with all English clubs banned from Europe in 85.
