I really hope we can pull this one off, obviously it'll be dependant on the big man leaving, but for me he'd be the best available replacement. He's a proven 20 goal a season PL striker, OK his age is against him, but it's not as if his game relies on pace and he patently looks after himself.

I've seen lots of people saying things like this, I honestly can't see Sandro playing through the middle so why wouldn't Giroud be starting if Lukaku is not around??

I can see us playing with two strikers in a number of games this season.

This is about as good as we can do for Lukaku's replacement, so I'd be happy with it.

As everyone's been saying, he has a much better touch, aerial ability and hold-up play than Lukaku, which'd be a big plus, but lacks Lukaku's power, pace, is hugely one-footed I believe and presses even less than the Belgian. There'll undoubtedly be games where he takes the piss a bit and some of our fans will fume.

We'd have to play the right way to accommodate him, but I have no doubt in Koeman's ability to handle all that. It's also a definite "statement" signing, which means nothing, really, but would at least raise our profile.

Sandro may well play out on the left.

Our attack needs a focal point. Giroud may well be that.

if he comes here he's ahead of sandro in the pecking order, surely?

Think Sanchez will be pushed a bit wider this year with Lacazette as the main striker. If they get Mahrez too, thats a quality front 3!

Giroud is really the only CF backup as Walcott isnt great in that position, welbeck isnt a proper goalscorer and Perez will be sold.

I'm probably the only person on planet Earth who thinks this, but I think Mahrez is overrated.
