Correct, a big (12 or 15 ft across) octagonal Art Deco in cream and green rectangular tile - a thing of magnificence.
Another cinematic haunt of my youth, still 6d to get in like the Allerton Gaumont, but no 2 x 2d bus fare reqd.
Many years later ( 1992ish?) I had to take mrs degsy and her arl Ma to the bingo there (this pic was taken from in front of the Red Lion...the oldest Pub in Garston...1750something iirc.
Now recently gone
Anyway: my options were; go back to Speke. Sit in the Red Lion or go to the bingo...which was licensed
Having never been to the bingo I went there.
The both got the full 6 card deal...I just got the one...you have to concentrate with 6 because every number is on there...only one card wins I said, who needs 6?
I won £100

Yep Sunday morning swimming club...and learned evasive tactics and how to now get drowned in the mayhem of the 'big' pool in the summer

I remember seeing Flipper in Queens Drive baths
….Horsecar no49 in West Derby Village. Picture apparently taken in 1880s;
1900, on parade in town here awaiting the arrival of Queen Victoria
The old station hotel before it was knocked down and rebuilt as offices in the 80’s
I held the stick for the dolphin to jump over in Garston baths, that year !
Looking back, it was shameful, to have dolphins doing tricks in swimming pools.
