Gerard Gardens, newly opened in 1937 - only lasted 50 years - no wonder with a name like that ..... 
Balm Beer, sounds better than Nettle beer.
Basically an alcoholic...with bubbles...nettle leaf wine - had to be made in the spring with 'new' growth leaves.
My Grandad used to make it back in the late 50s, it was, as they say - an 'acquired taste'
Didnt stop us kids necking it when it was offered - we knew a 'good' thing
New Brighton baths - that top diving board still makes me shudder - lol -
