They had a big factory on Dunningsbridge road Netherton I had a Saturday job there helping the driver dropping off bread and cakes etc. They had about 20 vans ,£1.25 for about 5 hours work.

They sent vans all over in Huyton - it was nice bread at the time - low wages that .....
My round was the Norris Green ,Croxteth area you couldn't turn your back for a second

Recognise this. The top picture must be 1950s or something? Before my time and the roundabout that the bottom picture was taken from. There was everything you needed in those shops right up to the 1970s. Atkinsons was a newsagent and sub post office, there was a greengrocers, pretty sure there was a butchers, the Gold Star chippy seems to have been there a long time. I'm pretty sure one of the shops was a small Tescos for a while which, I guess, was the beginning of big changes. Good to see a variety of retailers survive there still...
The Mayfair Cinema in Huyton a beautiful Art Deco building picture house was known as ‘The Ranch’ as westerns were shown frequently - as a kid played on the floor some cowboy named Jeff Chandler was on -
