Recognise this. The top picture must be 1950s or something? Before my time and the roundabout that the bottom picture was taken from. There was everything you needed in those shops right up to the 1970s. Atkinsons was a newsagent and sub post office, there was a greengrocers, pretty sure there was a butchers, the Gold Star chippy seems to have been there a long time. I'm pretty sure one of the shops was a small Tescos for a while which, I guess, was the beginning of big changes. Good to see a variety of retailers survive there still...
 
The Mayfair Cinema in Huyton a beautiful Art Deco building picture house was known as ‘The Ranch’ as westerns were shown frequently - as a kid played on the floor some cowboy named Jeff Chandler was on -
