Same for us in Fonthill Road Kirkdale. Moved out in ‘71, a new estate was built and lasted no more than about 30 yrs. The new build estate we moved to lasted until early 2000’s and now demolished. As you say, they were simply havens for crime and exacerbated by the council in putting young addicts into flats originally nominated for OAP’s. Within weeks they’d ripped the copper pipes out and flooded the lot.…..yep, late 60s, early 70s virtually all of that area was demolished. We lived in a rented house in Everton but had to move out for demolition in 1971. Irony is, the estate they built on that patch was a haven for crime and only lasted 25 years.
A couple of fine figures to the forefront there

They did, but I have no gilded memories of the first 11 years of my life in terms of housing…..knocking houses down destroyed long standing communities.
Eggs can you remember what year it was when a load of gypos set up camp off Everton road?…..knocking houses down destroyed long standing communities.

And when built the Radcliffe was supposed to look like a Cornish fishing village!!!….ha, ha, I remember it well. My Mum painted on the entry wall behind our houses; ‘This is not a toilet’. I can see that to this day. We left in ‘71 so I’d guess it was a couple of years earlier.
Don't forget the one on Prescott road.
