Food was still on rationing, but can you imagine this now - yet in France - The local Butcher when rationing was on at the height of the 2nd World War - slipped a package to my nan & stated have this for free & give me feedback - it was Whale Meat - it was given a big thumbs down as I was told it was like eating rubber.....
