The Cowboy

Player Valuation: £60m
Switching The Big Match on late, and having to wait about 10 mins to find out what the score is.

The Big Match programme starting at 2.50pm for a 3pm KO. 10 mins to introduce the teams, none of this Sky 4 hour build up malarkey.

First TV game I can remember was the RS Newcastle cup final, or the Charity Shield RS Leeds match. Not sure which was first.

Then Eberton Villa League Cup final, which was awful.

First England was that Poland match.

Must have watched others before then, but those are the ones I can recall with any sort of detail.

My 1st memories are the 1977 season.us losing the final to villa and the RS losing to utd.then the 78 world cup with all the tickertape.which I thought was amazing. Always liked gerald stinstadts commentaries on granada as well

No live games on ITV until October (1988-1992). Used to love that programme.

The 5 minute segment at the end of the match where they showed the weekend's goals.

Other than the FA Cup Final there was no live TV coverage when I was growing up in the 50s and 60s. Very few highlights either before MoTD. BUt I can remember watching Gerry Lofthouse doing his midweek sports review TV programme some time in the early 60s when he suddenly, totally out the blue, announced that Everton were playing at Sheff Wed and proceeded to show the 3 goals we scored to win the game. I think it was an FA Cup replay. Simply magical. Bear in mind that in those days there was little radio commentary either, so for a midweek game you used to get your team's result only on something like the hourly news bulletins.

I think the first live match I remember seeing on TV was Ireland Vs Italy at USA 94

The next one I remember after that was the 96 FA Cup Final

I only vaguely remember odd things from the mid 90's. I remember seeing highlights of Everton matches from around 94-96 but no actual full matches. We didn't have Sky until something like 2003, so it was always MOTD for my football watching, unless I could get to a mates house

I seem to recall watching the 2-2 with United at Old Trafford from 96-97 at a mates house

I have strong memories of watching Chelsea Vs Wimbledon in the 97 FA Cup Semi Finals

My first full England game on telly was the 2-0 over Scotland with Gazza's amazing goal

i remember way back in around 1962 when we played that great spurs
side that had won the double in 1961.Danny Blanchflower was the captain
and at that time advertised shredded wheat. When the spurs side came
onto the pitch there on the centre spot was a packet of shredded wheat.
good old days.

Villa 6 Everton 2

Not the first I remember which was the Cup Winners Cup final, but this was a proper beating on live TV. Then school on the Monday...

That theme was boss, although totally reminds me of Followtonians now!!

The Derby on Telly, probably in '84.

I distinctly remember running around telling everyone how good Big Nev was.
