I've said it many times before , the whole 1985 side was in my opinion , the greatest Everton side ever to grace Goodison, big Nev , Gary Stevens , you had to see him to believe him , lighting fast , rats , mounts , pat van , even inchy before he got injured. I wish that in all young evertonians, they get the chance to see , what we witnessed. For it really was , the school of science.

Why, so, many, commas, ?,,,,,,,,(-;

Tommy Lawton.

Me Dad says that he was bloody brilliant, his scoring record actually bears some comparison to WR Dean's (Lawton's does, not me Dad's).
Lawton netted 65 times in 87 appearances for us.

Yet, as with many Everton matters outside matters intervened in the form of WWII, and so aged only 20 he lost seven seasons before League football restarted.

I'd love to see Lawton.

Heard a few now elderly blues lately, saying that Lawton was the best they've ever seen.

....famously used to get the tram to games alongside supporters, how times change. I'm old but not that old to have seen him but I have no doubt he was a fabulous footballer and is best remembered as such.

watched a few old matches on you tube recently , and a few i have seen featured a young lad called billy kenny. such a shame what happened to this lad because he had everything to make it to a top top player . pace power and a very good footballing brain. anyone remember the derby game he played in?? got man of the match in that game and im not sure but that might have been his debut

Some great shouts here, Southall, Sheedy, Lawton, Bernie wright, but with the exception of Dean and it's close, Alan Ball is without doubt the greatest player ever to play for this club and probably one of if not one of the greatest players this country has ever produced. MOTM in the WCF at the age of 21, and if you look at the caliber of players who were playing in that match shows you what an achievement that was. I just wish the younger fans of today could've seen him play. By the way Lawton record is something else doesn't seem to get the recognition he deserves.
