The Irish trio, Bingham‘s teams at Everton were not very attractive or exciting to watch but we should have won the league one season with them, threw it away with two losses to bleedin’ Carlisle, and in the home game we were 2-0 up and still lost !!!

There were more Blues than the 7,000 quoted. For a start we had the biggest terracing area in the stadium, running the length of the touchline, so probably well over 10,000 of the 38,000 capacity. And then when you look at the goals going in you can see hundreds going up in celebration in the terracing behind the goals. Would I be right in recalling that entry to the terracing was cash at the turnstiles? Everton fans always had a special allegiance to the FA Cup. Probably still have. Shame the competition has been steadily downgraded over the last 20-odd years.
