Brought a tear to my eye this one Bally was my hero as a lad. I would have loved to have met him.
I was lucky to meet him when we were playing away at Villa and he was commenting on the game. I introduced him to my son “ as the best footballer I had seen in an Everton shirt” .
He was very kind and funny and had lots of things to say to my lad.

..weirdly enough, met him at Newmarket races. He was standing alone on the green in front of the finishing line. Whatever I said to him was inadequate.

On the night we won the title in 1970 I was a 14 year old in Everton Supporters Club on City Road. Alan Ball Sir was there with his son’s medal and he let me touch it. Great memory.
