Oh so fickle and glum after defeat

They looked dangerous on the wings so I could see the logic with putting Hibbert on instead of Coleman. Defensively Coleman is still very naive as highlighted by Orient's left winger giving him a hard time three days before. I'm desperate for a different option at right back as much as the next man but Hibbert is the better option against a team who pose any sort of threat.

Agreed on Fellaini's best position being in the middle of the park like but against West Brom he's been in form in that position and there is some logic in playing him there, as the usually excellent Executioners Bong lid hinted at in his preview.

There's a trend for over the top stropping and witch hunting every time we get beat which if we're continually getting beat is understandable but third game in this time was disappointing to see on the forum on the weekend.

Not an unfit Hibbert though. And he knew he wasn't fully fit. That's my point -- that is worrying.

And to be honest mate I'm in limbo a bit. I can call this a one off when I know it is, but a fair few familiar issues reared their ugly head and that's where the fulcrum of my concern lays.

I'd been fooled (partially) into thinking Moyes has changed but perhaps he hasn't changed very much. Time will tell.

He took a risk that didn't come off and was man enough to admit it afterwards, one of them mate. As we've agreed we lost the game because West Brom played better for the most part. We'll move on.

There was too many getting ahead of themselves targetting top three finishes on the back of two games. It's the bi polarism of our support which hyped up the game against these to the point of it being we'd turn up and get the points.

We need to swerve the EVERTON ARE BOSS to MOYLES OUT FFS mood swings most weeks on here. At least Neiler and davek are consistent in their approach to things like.

It's tough to say supporters are bi-polar as you can't group them all together. If there's one thing I've learnt on here it's that Evertonians will always disagree with each other. I still said 6th at best after our good initial start, and I maintain that. I'm not kneejerking either way. Just seeing what happens really. We've definitely got more potential this year but we've had potential under Moyes before, and haven't achieved it. Funnily enough our greatest achievement under him happened with a woeful squad with the potential for little more than a relegation scrap.

But I'm going off topic now. Moyes admitted his mistake like but it was his reflections that worried me. He thought he was too ballsy with his subs and I thought the opposite.

His greatest achievement is getting Everton to finish in the top six consistently over a number of years with the resources he had mate. I'm not his biggest fan at times but it's sad to see the usually even minded place here go into absolute meltdown after one bad result out of three.

Couldn't watch the game as I had work but from the highlights Mirallas looked an injection when he came on. Neville not so. And that should be pretty apparent for someone like Moyes. He's invested in 3 good attacking players in Pienaar, Nais and Mirallas and when 2 of them aren't really firing it falls to the rest of the team to take responsibility. Would have expected Moyes to see a battling Fellaini rather than someone to hoof the ball to as a better solution when their hard-tackling midfielders schooled our central line.

Brum's not a bad team though, especially at the Hawthorns. But had we been playing as most of us expect (and hope) then we'd have beat them.

But Neville for Gibson can never be mentioned as a positive sub, which is what I find odd about Moyes' comments.

I guess what bothers me is the same side that tore Villa apart for 45 minutes looked so inept one week later.

I think when you weigh up the opposition you have a better understanding of the situation. Aston Vile, all things considered are in a torid time with a squad of youthful, inexperienced premier league players. Once you'd got the first their head dropped and you lot are suddenly full of confidence. We're no Aston Villa, there's some steel and fight amongst this squad and you were playing a much better side which gave you a game.

I'm no fool either, we shall lose to Reading at home in a couple of weeks, but I won't get downbeat, I'll realise that we cannot win every game and every so often bad games do occur. Regardless of the defeat on Saturday, it's been a very good start from Everton and that should be seen as a positive which has appeared to get lost in the discussion of Saturdays defeat.

Good post.

You played really well, nearly all our team had bad games apart from Mirallas when he came on.

Part of that was due to how well your team played against us but part was just due to our players being poor.

I doubt we'll see Pienaar, Fellaini playing so poorly as they did on Saturday for a long time so I'm still optimistic. I think Mirallas will be a regular starter before long and I think he'll do really well for us. Naismith has a way to go before he's fully fit too but I've been impressed by his passing, vision at times so I think we'll be a strong outfit as we integrate the new players in to our team and everyone becomes match fit.

Hope you guys have a good season. Looks like you might have unearthed a quality manager in Clarke.

Cheers mate.

I don't think you was bad to be honest, you might not have reached the heights you set against Man United or Aston Villa but you certainly weren't as bad as been made out. You should have defended our first goal a lot better and equally our second was poor on your part. Again, had you defended much better in those instances you probably would have took a point out the game because up until then there was very little between us. The goal just seemed to happen out of nowhere and like in any football match, the goal changed the complexion of the game.

We were very good after the goal and equally made it tougher for you to break us down, granted you never had the answers but I don't think Everton fans should react to downbeat to the defeat. If you weigh things up and put them into perspective you're still in a very good position at this stage, much better than last season, and by the sounds of it playing much better football. You should very much be glass half full rather than half empty.

As for Clarke, we're progressing well. I like it.
