Oh so fickle and glum after defeat

When Gibson got injured I did hope that he'd drop Fellaini into midfield and bring on Mirallas to partner Jelavic, because at that particular time we were looking the more dangerous side. But I'm not blaming the defeat on that,I just think WBA were better than us on the day, it happens.

when gibson got injured and he sent on hibbert he might aswell of played with 5 defenders as neville can't pass so doesn't contribute to any attacking play or setting up an attack.

This sub was very negative, as for going for it by replacing naismith for mirrallas see Davek post.

Can't complain too much about the start really - considering it's normallly at least another month before we have those kind of points. Unsually for us I think the team's fitness isn't there yet. We've trailed off in the second half of every game we've played this season.

we just need that one CM honestly, im so positive, we have options all over. Yesterday 6-8 players were off par and we lost, i tell you that is better than having a good performance and losing to a team of that standard. that cm could be confirmed on monday, im not gonna go all RS an say he is awesome as I have never seen him kick a ball in anger (that i know of) but the reports are good, and more importantly i trust moyes 110% the biggest downer about yesterday is that we have to wait 16 day to put it right.

if we do beat newcastle then it is 9 from 12, and it is all about the way of results, for example if we had lost the first game and won the last 2 we would have been happier and still only on 6 points, this has been a good start, we have a decent sized squad, and as it has been claimed if felli puts that chance in we wouldnt of lost yesterday.

I guess what bothers me is the same side that tore Villa apart for 45 minutes looked so inept one week later.

My concern is that this is down to attitude from the manager/coaches leading up to the game. West brom have started well, and beat Liverpool 3-0. Villa are poor and everyone knows it, so I'd imagine before that game it was all 'you can beat these, attack them and they'll crumble'

After west brom beating the (average) team moyes seems terrified of 3-0, what do you think was being drilled into the players in the days leading up to it? 'Attack', or 'west brom can do this, this and this, how will we stop them?'. It must affect the players knowing we have this attacking potential and all they are told about is how they should be scared of the (again, not world beating) opposition

Can there never be a middle ground?

It's possible to be annoyed with the performance yesterday and question Moyes' inference of saying the attacking mentality isn't the way to go, but also appreciate we've had a better start to the season than people imagined (especially given our usual dire starts).

We got beat yesterday and questions will be asked like there should be after any defeat, especially in a game where we should have been looking to get at least a point out of. Equally, I'm optimistic about this season. I'm not "accepting" a defeat, I'm saying we should look at why we got beat (lack of urgency, poor finishing, and so on), address it and move on. You'd think we had 1 point from 3 games looking at a few comments on here.

There's nothing better than Evertonians trying to tell me to be "happy" when we have our arse shown to us by West Brom. Makes me feel great inside.

its gas ive read just one page of this thread.someone mentioned the championship!! not many teams will go to west brom and take 3 points.we had chances before they scored.lets regroup now get players fit,new players in and get going and just once let us be positive..

Be happy, you can have NO complaints about the performance.

Because honestly, that's what everyone is saying. Literally everyone.

I think the reality is that we don't have the individual skill of teams like Chelsea, Man City, Utd etc, where players can single-handedly win games for us in the way that people like Hazard, Aguero, Van Persie etc can.

What it means is that on our day we can beat some of the best teams in the league through hard work, good organisation etc (like the 1:0 vs. City last season and the 1:0 vs. Utd this year) but we are sometimes going to struggle to carve teams open if the onus is on us to attack them.

Anyone who thinks we're going to go to places like West Brom, Stoke and beat them 4/5:0 every time is delusional.

The season we did get the 4th spot was when we had a ridiculous number of 1:0s... that's the only way it's ever going to happen again.

We were ****e. West Brom were good, simple as that. No point dwelling over it is there? One ****e performance out of three, isnt that bad. Yeah we would have loved a boss performance and a decent result, but thats not always going to happen, we will have more days like this throughout the season, it happens. Lets get over it and move on.

Six points may be doing fine, but that's not really the point, is it ? There's been an amazing buzz around the club the last week or two, and quite a few fans have started to believe this could be the season where we have the players and the belief to challenge the top 4, never mind the top 6. And the fact is, we can't afford too many games like the one yesterday if we want to give ourselves a chance of breaking through that barrier. We need to start with the belief that we can win tough away games and take the game more to the opposition. When teams like West Brom come prepared with defensive strategies to shut us out, we need to find the flair to keep creating chances. We need to keep the ball better. We need to stay strong, fit and focused right through the 90 minutes. No, we won't win them all. But we've got a great squad, we shouldn't settle for second best.

This sums things up! (y)
