Oh so fickle and glum after defeat

Some of our fans make me laugh, they really do. We have six points out of a possible nine. No one gave us a chance over United yet come away with the spoils. Ok, we lost at West Brom but we are not the only team that will go there this season and come away with nothing. Gibson was carrying an injury before the game and Moyes tactic backfired, however we now have this new guy as an adequate replacement. I for one am not overly concerned over this loss, disappointed yes but i would have been delighted with the start we have had before the season got under way. Onwards and upwards now. Bring on Newcastle where we can add our new boys to the squad. Keep believing.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with being angered by that toothless display yesterday. It's healthy that fans think that we should go to WBA and pick up at least a point to keep the run going. The acceptance of the loss and the nature of it by others is more worrying. There's something holding this team back. If there's any sort of expectancy placed on them they tend to fold alarmingly. Concentrating your thoughts on why that is would be a more fruitful input than lashing out at people who want us to account for ourselves in every game we play and not just 2 out of three games.

Moyes words post match by the way are cause for concern: he's saying he should have been less adventurous in putting Mirallas on, and that suggests to me he's going to rein us in again as an attacking force in the coming games. He draws absolutely the wrong conclusion from these defeats every single time.

I actually found Moyes' comments to be rather good this time around. No "Moyes rues missed chances" as we've seen before. Judging by Pienaar's tweet after the game, Heitinga's too, he must've been quite angry in the dressing room afterwards. This came out with clear criticism of our defending play in the postmatch presser.

We should rather hand it to West Brom, Mulumbu and Yacob both played blinders, their back four was great too. They got in our faces and stuck it in, and we never got into that quick-passing rhytm we've been showing so nicely in recent games.

We have to remember that Moyes is in the middle of a massive reshaping job. New formation, new players, old players in new positions, new drills. Gotta have a few bad days with that, but i still like the way this idea is going - if we can keep up playing like this, that is. With some of the flair and some of that nifty pass&move football.

Tend to agree with Davek here.

It's not the loss, it's the manner of the loss and the signal that Moyes not only reverted to type when he replaced Gibson with Neville, but he also questions his own later decision to go with an positive change when he brought Mirallas on.

The gutless, toothless display was sadly very reminiscent of many of Moyes' matches. We're as likely to turn in a quality shift as we are a gash one. Amongst the decent run-in at the end of last season (our supposed-always purple patch), don't forget we had stinkers such as Stoke away.

The fact that Moyes seems to be sticking to his tried and trusted methods is alarming. We've more options now, and more armoury to take the game to opponents.

Sadly, I can't ever see us making the most of our resources. Or perhaps even giving us a chance of making the most of them.

it was so obvious that out tactics were not working but it took 60mins to change. gibsons injury was the perfect time to change

All i am saying is that everyone was on a crest of a wave before yesterday, now all of a sudden it's all doom and gloom. Football is full of fine margins, if and buts. We played poorly yesterday but should have taken the lead through Fellaini, the next minute we are 1-0 down. Fine margins. There is no easy games in the Premier League, this was one of them. Lets move on and focus on Newscatle United.

disappointed with yesterday's performance yes, Moyes had it wring by replacing Gibson with Hibbert instead of Coleman, Hibbert looked way off the pace and was letting loads of crosses in as well as breaking down many of our attacks on the right with his sluggish crossing and attacking play, Coleman would of been a much better option, as we had Neville sitting there to assist defensively, Fellaini had a sitter to make it 1-0 which was poor and Pienaar, Baines, Fellaini and Jelavic won't have as many poor games as that. considering we're sitting 5th going in to the international break with two international players to come into the squad, I think we have a lot to be positive about, I think we're one of the main contenders for fourth place.

I just hope DM sees from that game that Phill Neville is not a midfielder he is a 35 year old player who should only be on the bench - thats what cost us -we had no ball winner in midfield - The Ref was a homer - It was a scrappy game, but WBA wanted it more - end off!

Thank you, simply and accurately put.

david moyes cant see that we need a new right back so he wont see that either

I think the problem we seem to have at the moment IMO is being over reliant on Gibson, this record of his of being unbeaten in League games is not just coincidence, the minute he goes off or doesn't play it affects the confidence and shape of the team. Neville is not the answer. I'm hoping this Ofoe fella is as good as he's being touted, but my major concern is wether Moyes will have the balls to play him ahead of Neville, and i think we all know the answer to that question!
Early days yet...but Moyes needs to sort this out sooner rather than later.

I said this yesterday, or did I ? Anyway, I agree with that Moyes has to look above and beyond Neville asap. Many have been saying for a while now that the balance has tipped against Neville, the trouble is who takes over him and lets be honest that alone not easy task. Neville has been a great servant to us and I'll never forget that, but surely Moyes has to deal with this conundrum sooner rather than later.
