Imho we will struggle to play in the style that Martinez wants while we have the players we have, this is Moyes team and they are not capable playing in the way Martinez wants, because in the 11yrs Moyes was at the club they were not asked to. This is why in my opinon we must get the best price for Fell and I'm afraid Baines, as unpleasant as that is, and Martinez given the money to rebuild.

Sorry mate, I totally disagree. This is a Moyes team, but this team outperformed everyone in Europe statistically over the first third of last season. And that includes Barcelona. The shackles were taken off them and they were allowed to go for it. They were restricted later in the season and told to play more conservatively.

This team can play the Martinez way.

Spending doesn't guarantee success but do it for long enough and it does.

Not spending guarantees failure.

Tell that to Arsenal - 16 seasons on the bounce in the Champions Leauge and they have the a smallest net spend of anyone (including us) who've been in the Prem since it began

I see where your coming from with that, but they still played the way Moyes wanted them to play with his tactics and his system, now Martinez wants them to play the way he wants and his system, and I just don't think they are capable of adapting

True, but they have a wage bill which dwarfs ours.

Add to the fact, they actually make a profit each year compared to our losses and they are in a different stratosphere to us.

6th-8th would be a fantastic achievement for Martinez in his first season.

I am massively cynical about him as a manager but that pails into insignificance when I compare it to how cynical I am about the board's ability to offer him any financial support to achieve anything with us.

I wouldn't say so, that's about were we should finish, it would be a decent season to finish there.

I don't like this accepting lower league positions while transitioning, if you drop to low in the league 1 year it could become a habit.
We have a team that had outside chance of top 4 last season, so a finish outside the top 8 is not good enough

cardiff away... then chelsea at home.. i know its real early, but we need to put some goals away wednesday..hopefully we beat cardiff, coyb!

midfielder, bit of a snide would do, and a fkn boss striker..I mean a fkn Jelavic when he first came here

that's what we need

Norwich away was quite simply bad luck: we had a few decent half chances, plenty of the ball, and were very unlucky to concede from two half chances. The first one especially was a spawny goal + bad defending.

West Brom we should have put our chances away, the players must shoulder the blame for some poor finishing. We battered them.
