Just what is the UKs position in the world now, besides a historical legacy of being a former great power (whose governments act like it still is), what is its role in the world now, and going forward.
In that regards Brexit always seemed a very strange move, prior to that our importance to the US was high, effectively we where one of the three major EU nations and thus important to America as it gave them de facto an important voice in EU politics and direction. Once out of the EU though we lost that, and with it a lot of the use we held.
Since then the UK just seems to be trying to Scrabble around to make some 'new' friends, but in terms of trade growth etc have failed miserably.
We still 'talk' and 'posture' like a major power, but as the article says, is that really what Britain actually is or is seen to be in the greater world these days, or is it now just becoming 'just' another small country without anything particularly setting it apart from any other
