its an opinion. langley gave his all when he played. more than barkley gives
You often find the players of limited ability give there all, that's not a criticism as they should all do likewise, however some dont have the stamina to run for 90 minutes solid, this doesnt make them less committed. All athletes are different.

The Forest 4-0 game is my only memory of him. It was live on ITV and I videoed the game and watched it about 10 times. Can still remember Forest had Currie and Rice playing for them, they messed up at one point and the commentator said they'd "made a meal of it" which 10 year old me thought was hilarious.

Very interesting insights on a classic "What could have been" player for Everton.

Anyone present at the '85 final care to shed light on the weird atmosphere and potential for aggression? My dad and brother have never really gone into it, like. Former players have mentioned how ugly the general vibe was.

It was in the middle of that horrible slab of football horror stories between the Bradford fire and Heysel.

We were unlucky with Whiteside. Great goal scoring first season but sadly had to retire in his 2nd. Mad to think he was only 26. Achieved so much in such a short career.

I went to the 85 Final as a 10 year old. Remember it being almost dangerously overcrowded. I didn't have a ticket and my Uncle just handed the fella on the gate a fiver. Remember reading years later that the gate fiddle was rife and they must have let about 18k in above the 100k. Frightening now when you think about it. With regards trouble, I remember some fighting at the services and being dead shocked seeing Mancs with a "Catterick 85" banner on the back of their coach. Often say to my Ma that I can't believe she let me go all that way with no ticket and in the middle of a football violence epidemic. Got a 10 year old myself now and wouldn't dream of it!

He broke my heart in May 1985. I was 8 years old, and my arl man and older brother went to Wembley. What a climax to an unforgettable season that would have been. I never went to the Cup final, I've heard accounts off many older blues that it was a hairy atmosphere beforehand and after.

What a strike to lose to though. The kind of goal that even Southall had no chance to stop.

I've been checking out footage of him on YouTube - wow, he was incredible. Skillful, speedy, a glorious ability to shrug off defenders and charge into dangerous positions. Certainly during his Man Utd days and Northern Ireland appearances.

His time with Everton was sadly quiet and seems to be forgotten these days.

Anyone have any memories of his time at Everton? I was regularly at the match when he joined us. Sadly I can't recall his time with us.

There was a reason SAF palmed him off to us in his early 20's - he was broken...He had the vision and guts plus no little skill - you could see it, but his body kept letting him down
