Player Valuation: £10m
He broke my heart in May 1985. I was 8 years old, and my arl man and older brother went to Wembley. What a climax to an unforgettable season that would have been. I never went to the Cup final, I've heard accounts off many older blues that it was a hairy atmosphere beforehand and after.

What a strike to lose to though. The kind of goal that even Southall had no chance to stop.

I've been checking out footage of him on YouTube - wow, he was incredible. Skillful, speedy, a glorious ability to shrug off defenders and charge into dangerous positions. Certainly during his Man Utd days and Northern Ireland appearances.

His time with Everton was sadly quiet and seems to be forgotten these days.

Anyone have any memories of his time at Everton? I was regularly at the match when he joined us. Sadly I can't recall his time with us.

He was quality,we took a chance on him £750,000 I think he cost,Taggart I believe was looking to move him on as Big Norm had problems with his knees and liked a night out toolol,I liked him,big and strong but a skilful lad too,a goal threat from midfield, alas his knees really did start giving him jip and I think if we got 25/30 games out of him we were lucky before he retired:)

I had the privilege of being in the players lounge before and after an Everton v Spurs game. It was Linekers first game at Goodison on his return to England from Barca. Think it ended up 1-1. Anyway, Whiteside was injured and not in the squad and I saw him having a pint before the game. After the match, well lets just say he was having a few more.! I got the impression he'd not even bothered to watch the match in favour of a few more beers. Sadly he was injured quite a bit whilst an Everton player. Good player when fit though.

hes a physio isnt he now. felt we had a chance when moran was sent off but you cant legislate for that class. cracking midfielder for us but too injury prone. kevin langley was another who never met full potential through injuries. they make barkeley look like danny williamson

I can remember absolutely nowt about his time with us.

Yet another ex United player sent here to see out his career.....and at that stage we had been champions more than they had....and a lot more recently

Injury.... of a great player. Only Everton, that. I always remember him being overly wild in his playing style like. Very 80's type of player. When you look at the likes of Roy Keane and Viera.... Naughty Norman would have been right at home in any midfield.

Signed from Wigan I believe, injuries or not, not fit to clean Barkley's boots, so let's not allow nostalgia to cloud your judgement just cos we're having a bad run please.

Always felt he played well for us. Good player who I enjoyed watching in blue. Shame about the injuries though.
Of course he also wrecked our perfect season. Still convinced we would have scored if Moran hadn't been a dirty So and so.

Bit odd to mention what players could have been like if it wasnt for injuries only to then compare Barkley to someone who had his career destroyed by injury....

its an opinion. langley gave his all when he played. more than barkley gives
