Non League Football

Did you see the FA allocations for the NPL west?

2 x Wythenshaw Teams!

I didn't realise they just juggled teams about. Northwich 1874 in the same league as Northwich Vics too

Yes I saw that, interesting now that it’s moving to a 22 team league as well. I assume that means an extra promotion and extra relegation slot, haven’t seen that confirmed anywhere. I’m made up Wythy Town beat Bury in the playoffs, Bury fans kicking up a right stink over it, marvellous to see.

Did Vics move sideways then? I know 1874 were the equivalent of Sheff Utd in our league last year, and just gave up in January and went down with a whimper.

Vics stayed in that Midland League, and 1874 have joined them, so I assume that's where relegation from the NPL west takes you, depending on your location.

I am defo getting a season ticket for Nantwich.

Ahhh right, quite annoying for the Northwich clubs that. Most teams relegated from NPL West would go into the North West Counties, but the teams that are on the border are always at risk of being moved laterally. Northwich are unlucky to be considered midlands clubs imo, especially when the likes of Hednesford and Chasetown are in North West divisions. Suppose there’s too many NW teams in the Counties league though and someone has to be a sacrificial lamb.

I'll be honest mate, aside from the odd game this is the first year I've really took an interest in league structures etc. It seems a bit rum that 1874 go to the top division in another area though, is the midland league a 'step down' so to speak?

@barneygumble wheels in motion now for Widnes and the new ground. Very excited for this and for the future of the club, this will go a long way to helping the club establish its identity.

Absolutely amazing news for you.

You can't be sustainable at Vikings stadoum.

It's so far from non league it hinders you!

We've also put the feelers out for a new ground (which I believe will be on St. Mary's school site).

It's so very over saturated the region of Northwich.

There doesn't need to be a Vics, 1874, Witton and Winsford. It's just too many teams, how can you build a sustainable group of clubs when 4 are so close.

Winsford only in the division below because they got transferred to the midlands league (along with Congleton) and refused to, so Burscough who finished below them got retrieved and Winsford got demoted... interestingly, Congleton blitzed the midland league, so maybe poor management by Winsford there!

I think both Wythenshawes get a combined 550, but given that Newcastle Town barely get 100, they should do just fine.

Never really thought of it like that, obvious now you mention it like.

Yeah, the club can’t make anything from gate receipts currently which is a huge problem. New ground is vital to make the club sustainable.

Marine are really making great strides lately. That FA Cup run from a couple of years ago has really kickstarted the club.

The ground is just not beneficial for the club. The lack of understanding from stewards helps no one.

So I'm thrilled for you, it should allow you to build on the core of fans now and hopefully continue to push up the league.

Think Widnes deserves that as a town, give the Vikings a bit of competition.

It's a long way to go, for Marine. We need £5m, I'm not entirely sure where were going to fund that, but seems the bar has been set and now do all we can to reach it.

I will no doubt be incorrect on which teams, but I believe it may have been Vics & Witton groundshared, had two separate clubhouses and refused to open when opposition played.

There's just a real tit for tat in the area and it's just counter productive to all the teams. In particular the Vics 1874 situation is really messy, but it's counter productive and benefits no one!

I wouldn't disagree, as I mentioned before though, listening to my old mate, he had a real beef with the ownership of the Vics. This was 10 x worse than our lot with Kenwright, Mosh and co. My view is, listening to him, that there was no way back...

You missed out Barnton FC :) , 1874 groundshare at theirs.
