Nicknames are fine with your mates. Or at school.

But giving a a grown up footballer one makes it sound like you actually know him or he’s your mate. Makes me cringe a little.

Makes me cringe that I’ve probably done it too. But I hate myself most days so no biggy there.

But as @Roger Milla says, who really cares.

Kept us busy though hey.

Indeed.

I cringe when people around me shout out "well done, Morgs" or "sod off, Schneids"

I don't think so

"Come on Jelly lad!"

Rolls off the tongue
This reminds me of a party I was at recently where I was VERY harshly treated.

The DJ started playing music and he put on that "Jump Around" song and everyone started jumping around. Then he played "Sit Down" by James and everyone sat down on the dance floor. Then he played "Come on Eileen" and the next thing I know I'm being asked to leave!

cor, up the irons lad...

Yeah mate, I enjoy people using players (and other people's) actual names and also not actual stupid nicknames.

Did my head in when people called Pienaar 'Peanuts'. Also, as a side note, shockingly no one from the PC police claimed that's racist.
Well Ronk is pretty fat, put him upfront, it'd be like playing Goat up top - his body fat just engulfs the ball every time it's near his gravity field.

Is that So?

I refer to them all by their surnames, as a mark of disrespect! They want me to call them by their first names they can bloody well win something (or just be utterly boss like the Latch)!
