Have you seen The Corner? it's a prequel to The Wire same writing/directing team, it's a bit more documentary style, worth a watch if you havnt seen it, I watched it on YouTube I think.

It's from the follow on book mate, the Wire is based on - Book one : Homicide Life on the Street and Book two : The Corner.

Oh right didn't realise they were written that way round, The Corner TV series was definately released first though, was kind of weird seeing a lot of the actors in different roles, like Lester as a dope fiend.

Yeah, think the Corner was low budget, then they got hold of the two books and merged them into the Wire.
