He's paid money to do that.
For once, with no sense of sarcasm, I think most lads on here could have kicked that exactly the same, pressure or not.
Thing is i'm not sure that's what Carroll was looking for in that kick. Did you see his face afterwards?
Also technically given that he is the punter and not the kicker also it's not what he is paid to do.
This morning (saturday) in an interview (Dickson the punter) said that both he and Janikowski practiced onside kicks but he was expecting them to call on Janikowski obviously because no one saw him getting injured.
It looks like he misjudged what he was aiming to do with his dropkick. I guess he was looking to pop it over the top of the first guys but hit it too hard. Guess we will find out when he explains it.
Having kicked playing football and punted myself (obviously not at the NFL level) it is difficult to do onside kicks. Not sure drop kicking a ball is the solution but can understand that's his technique.
Dickson is pure Aussie rules. When he went to college in the US he never played soccer just Aussie rules so he cannot play soccer nor can he kick a soccer ball well.
He admitted that ages ago hence when they use him to do kickoffs its his special drop kick. did you see his practice kicks also? They were woeful.
If you ever watch the GAA and Aussie rule international series or the buildup to it, the Aussies generally explain they never played soccer thus never kicking a round ball.
