+1 year after whenever I die. Sod's law.

I'm 30 now btw
Christ that's a depressing post. But I get where you're coming from.

I remember our '95 success well but the years in between have, with a couple of exceptions, blended into one seemingly endless slog of nothingness. Highlights for sure but we're talking great memories of the odd match, nothing remotely approaching sustained achievement. The 4th place being the obvious anomaly.

It's been far, far, FAR too long and I think we've become accustomed to mediocrity. However I believe that's changing. I think we'll taste success again soon (this season or within the next two, max) and it will taste very, very sweet. Especially if you remember the 90s.

Before Tuesday night I would have confidently said within 18 months. I really thought we would target any cup to secure a place in Europe. Ron himself said it is needed to attract the calibre of player we have been trying to sign. Now? A tentative, almost sitting on the fence, 18 months.

its already been to feckin long. i was hoping it was going to be this season but then again maybe next season or the one after... its the hope that kills you. COYB.

Exactly this went my first game in the 70's as an infant then at school I got the mid 80's and thought it was gonna be like that forever, then came the 90's with that sorta 1/2 seasons under royle.
Now I get that I was spoilt as a kid and have probably seen us win more things in my lifetime than lads who were born a bit later, as much as I love everton and have unrealistic expectations of success I don't really believe we'll win a trophy every year. Actually any year, just would love to be proved wrong but I probably expect as the poster above put it " 1 year after you die " :(

Hope so mate, hope so!

Was just 8 when we won the cup. Don't remember much about the game apart from being a bit bored in the 2nd half. Should have embraced the moment more!

The 90s and the smith era were very grim indeed.

However, I do think we had success under Moyes (obviously taking into account the financial situation). Finishing 4th once, 5th twice, and 6th twice wasn't bad. 07/08 was my favorite year. Looked on for the top 4 for a while, league cup semi, and a decent euro run.

Maybe RoKo Walsh and Moshi will bring the good times back. Fingers crossed.
