What rights though? What rights should you have in regard to owning a copy of someone elses creation? I may have missed something but just wanted to know what was this in regards to.

And elong.....whats your steam id.....I need friends. Or something. Really I just want to see what games you got.

My PS3 works fine, plays Blu Ray movies and all the games I want at the moment.

Why would I want to rush out and splurge my hard earned dollars on something I really have no need of? I am willing to bet that 99.9% of people posting in here are actually in the same position but are getting sucked up into the hype. Same with new release games in my opinion, overpriced for what you get, just wait a few months and buy it cheaper.

Consumerism has got a tight hold on your ball sack lads.

I doubt I will get one of the new consoles for at least 2 years. So far have manged over a year without my Xbox 360, and am quite happy about it.

Haha mate I only have F1 2012, Skyrim and SWTOR on Steam, and Fifa 12 on Origin, not a huge collection. I didn't even know it had a friends list!

Who can read an Essay? They should have to restrict it to point form.

Cod Championships will be on XBOX One, with esports growing massively especially in the UK, France and North America that could be quite a big thing for microsoft.

I am finding it very amusing all the frothing at the mouth over the Xbox One. And not just on here, but all over the net. It seems to me that people think they have a god given right to the Xbox One. Microsoft, as the PRIVATE company, selling a product are free to dictate how their products are to be used.

Fact is, no one truely 'owns' their games, you only have a license to use it. You own the physical medium it is present on (the game disc or your hard drive), but the software remains the sole property of the publisher. People have been clicking away rights in this regard for years and years now. Every time you just skip that massive wall of text with the "OMG JUST LET ME AT THE GAME' attitude, you are forfeiting your rights.

As short sighted as Microsoft seem, it is their right to implement this. I can't say with certainty, but I would be willing to put a few bob on Sony following suit, just with less fan-fare.

Buy the console that makes you happy. That is all you have to do!

Fantastic post, but unfortunately this is the interwebz we're talking about, where everyone loves to make much ado about not much at all. - Toffe3m4n

I'm probably going to get one about year after launch. PS4 the way things are looking - gives the platform a chance to establish itself, hopefully with a few decent "killer apps" (otherwise why would you buy one?), and hopefully there'll be a decent 2nd-hand games market.
And it gives you a better chance to really understand the pros and cons of the platform.
The hardware price is not really such a big issue. It already looks quite competitively priced to me, and I wouldn't expect further big price drops. It's more about letting the console establish itself with a decent number of titles.

I agree with new release games because you can often wait a couple of months and get it for half the price it was on release (at least in this phase of current gen -- wasn't that way at first aside from maybe used). So I usually wait. However you could wait a year for the PS4 price drop and maybe you'll get 20 off. Might as well buy it on release (if you're going to buy).

Yes....there is that too.

With the point being that even AMD's top end octacore chips get a pantsing by mid-range Intel quad-cores. PC's will forever be the superior platform. No longer will there be console exclusives.....some enterprising 'programmer' will drop console 'exclusives' right onto PC.

There's more to it than raw power. Metro Last Light developer:

you just cannot compare consoles to PC directly. Consoles (next gen) could do at least 2x what a comparable PC can due to the fixed platform and low-level access to hardware.
