Good point that, regardless of his merits as a footballer, all the Everton players spoke very highly of Phil Neville as a captain.

You basically want a solid pro as captain. A Kompany type. I don't believe we have that in our ranks at the mo. We should be looking for someone with experience and a few medals under their belt. This is someone who would garner solidity on and off the pitch and add composure and ambition to the dressing room. The position doesn't have to be important but I've never really liked full backs as captains, they have the tendency to be exploited during their off games and lose face somewhat.

But as for an on-pitch captain,is he really commanding or whatever you want to call it, his team? I haven't noticed, but that doesn't mean anything though

I agree, I cant see Keane being the guy. He's becoming a good defender for us, but he's not captain material, I dont think.

Its gotta be Coleman, with Baines as vice captain if he resigns.
If not, Id probably go with Digne tbh. Always wants to win and plays with passion, might make sure he stays with us for a while too.

Valid point but I would think we have far more pressing areas to replace than him for next season. Though obviously depends on budget and who is available.
