I'd rather win the other three games and take a loss in the derby.

I mean dont get me wrong, theres nothing like winning a Derby, nothing and the pain of losing is 1000 times worse than any other game, but at the end of the day, in the grand scale of things, its still 3 points for a win, 1 for a draw.

A derby only matters if that's all you're playing for. You finish top 4 or in the relegation zone and how you do in derbies means nothing.

You finish 7th and it's how fans judge the season.

Tbh i think that might be one thing Liverpool fans were right about. When we were clamouring for derby victories they were off winning cups and competing in the Champions League. Your form over an entire season is a much better way of deciding which of the two teams is better than a couple of games a year.

we have to look at both derby games as automatic losses.

I'll be horrified if we don't beat Wigan. QPR away is potentially the hardest

Yeah I see the point, Christ, back in the day Derbys were the difference between winning titles or finishing 2nd, winning Cup Finals or crying.

Im an Everton fan, they are our rivals, I hate them with a passion, every Derby I dont just want to win, I want to win whilst hurting as many of their players as possible.

But yeah I see your point, last Season we finished above them, but we got robbed at Home, Moyes kinda threw the Away and then there was Wembley, so the postion above in the League meant nothing.

Wigan (a) - Win
QPR (a) - Draw, can see this going either way
****e (h - referee biased as always) - Draw, although we always seem to come away with nothing
Fulham (a) - Draw, we do well at the Cottage, but they are looking good

So, 6pts minimum would be an average outing. anything less would be poor, and 9 or more and we have done pretty good

Aye, I'd agree with that. The fact they got to two cup finals, winning one, probably pissed on our chips even more.

12 points, NAILED.

Champions win the easy games.

Read it with a smile on my face, absolutely loving that optimism.

Could reasonably foresee us picking up points at DW, Loftus Road and Craven Cottage but none will be easy. People seriously underestimate Wigan, they always create many chances, they just lack the quality to take them.

Liverpool it doesn't matter how well (or poor) we play, we'll lose. I predicted the semifinal defeat, I could see it coming a mile off. We do have Pienaar but it didn't make a difference to that awful Anfield showing in the league, either. Both times we showed serious lack of bottle. It's one of the three pillars, the 'axis of evil' that governs results on those dark days known as Merseyside derbies.
In fairness we battered them at Goodison but then the other elements come into play, the other pillars in the axis of evil - i) atrocious, bordering on the corrupt, officating and ii) terrible, sold-their-souls-to-the-devil, spawn-of-satan-club's good fortune that always befalls them (or, equally, the horrific luck tthat befalls us). We had the truly scandalous Rodwell sending off followed by a richocheted clearence (Distin off Baines) that fell for a tap-in to Suarez.

Bottling, bad luck, and bad referees.
We can never overcome all three. Even if we are lucky enough to brave one or maybe two, the axis of evil closes in on us. We never ever get justice in derby games. I've grown to loathe them.
