Old news of an ex player, clearing out some old paperwork and I came across a 2014 local newspaper that someone brought me back from the US with a brief interview with Tim Howard. It focuses mainly on his International career but he talks about his difficult time at United and how the tabloids and even some of the fans gave him abuse over his TS. But it goes on to say:
In 2006, Howard moved to Everton, another Premier league club, where he immediately meshed with his coaches, teammates, and especially the fans, who he describes as "roll-up-your-sleeve, blue-collar fighters" who remind him of his own family. "For what I do, this is the best job in the world, I've carved myself a niche here."
