We made a mistake not giving him game time when he was here. What Ferguson did by taking him off at Old Trafford was appalling and probably made up his mind to play anywhere bar for us. As with Lookman he seems to have found the right club for himself, only 24.

I'd say it was actually after the ferguson sub when he turned his attitude around at the club, was making hard working sub appearances that resulted in a goal in a rare start where he ran hard all game. Carlo duly dropped him and never gave him a chance again even when it looked like Ritchie and DCL could use a break.

We did. Like lookman, it has taken him several years and clubs to get half decent.
It’s tough on young players moving.
I think that is the risk we have to take with some of these young players. That is/was probably the only time they were going to be available to us. If we waited another year or two for them to develop/deliver on their potential more they would be too expensive/snapped up by "bigger" clubs. The hope is that getting them in that early they develop enough and are patient enough (and we with them) here to keep hold of them until they become productive members of the squad. Sometimes it works out (Stones, Branthwaite, DCL) and sometimes it doesn't, or it just takes to long, or the stars just don't align. We made our money back or more on both of those, plus Vlasic I believe (who is another one ppl talk about us missing the boat on).
