How they go about it is gonna be very interesting, they need to spend to try stay up for sure, but who they target is key.
Any player they go for from most clubs now will receive a 200% mark up.
If they're smart they don't get gouged - but can see them throwing silly money at the likes of Tarkowski (with six months left he should be cheap - but can see them throwing 20m at Burnley to get him in January), likes of Davies, Keane and Holgate we could actually manage to get rid off for good fees - Here's hoping.
Staveley is massively digging them a hole with all her "we want to win the premiership in 5 years nonsense" all that does is create pressure and let's everyone know they're gonna be desperately spunking cash all over the shop
I think it's actually beset with a lot of challenges. In the big picture, lots of money will see increase in performance, but how that plays out becomes interesting. As I think I said, Malaga had a Sheikh and he basically gave up. Sheffield United had Saudi investment and are not at the top end of the league.
I gave the scenario yesterday of like ourselves, under Koeman on steroids of what could happen. You have this dangerous mix, of unrealistic fan expectation, a previous structure that was wholly different to the one they would need, a lack of understanding of a need to put the structure in and a fanbase/manager that want to shortcut the process and go overboard at hurdles. We had pretty much all of the above, and I can sense they may run into similar problems but much quicker.
Staveley saying 5 years to win the league is ridiculous, and will not help the situation. The other interesting point, is people will sell again at markup, but it will mean they will essentially run into FFP limits very quickly, having signed a bunch of guys at Tarkowski's level (if thats the way they go). Now don't tell me a team of Tarkowski's or Michael Keane's will win them the league. They will be half way up. To me that's a better outcome than signing a bunch of mercenaries and giving them to a Gerrard/Lampard as manager.
If I were them, I would be getting on the blower to the best sporting Director I could find and giving them control of the club.
