I should also add, Martin Samuel (who on the whole I don't really like) has called thisperfectly throughout. He called it right initially that they were flakey and could pull out. Called it right Ashley had doubts hence why he put the deposit in. Called it right Ashley had his doubts it would go through. Called it right he went ahead with it to gain credit from fans (which he has, the PL are now enemy number 1).
His latest column is right too, essentially super wealthy people do deals, they don't talk about doing deals and haggle for months on end over price and stall on issues like privacy. They don't conduct their business in the public arena, making ridiculous statements to the press, or have an amateur like Staveley on bard.
I said this to the resident Geordies right at the start. City- flew over, deal done in hours. Abramovich, saw Stamford Bridge, deal done in days. Moshiri/Usmanov, swept in at the last minute, bought the club, in a day or so. No press before hand. Nobody tipped off. Nothing leaked. Not silly negotiation on price. Nobody ridiculous like Staveley representing them, making a tit of herself in court and whining on talksport. No excuses. In out, in a couple of days.
Thats what the turnovers who invest serious money do. I can't really stress this enough, if one is linked with Leeds next or whatever. If it's in the public domain, before it's completed within 24 hours, it's not going to be City/Chelsea level. It's not even going to be Everton level. This consortium trying to come back should worry nobody. They are not what they ave said they are.
Do people really think, if Bin Salman was involved with this, he'd have the buyers agent making a fool of herself in public court? Or brief her to go whining to talksport and Jim White? Or be bruning bridges with the PL in this way? Or be calling upon the fans to get this over the line by petitions? Or do you think he'd just ask what the PL wanted, do what they asked, pay the money Ashley wanted, not take a loan and get it sorted? All behind closed doors.
Worry about takeovers that happen quickly and that Amanda Staveley is nowhere near would be my advise moving forward. They will be the transformative ones.
