Newcastle Utd (and Viz)

Strap in, its a TLDR of all the embargoes:
  • The Premier League changed their mood in June
  • PIF guaranteed no Saudi state involvement after repeated questions
  • PIF believes the Premier League has been influenced by politically motivated by third parties – Qatar – and that meant they kept on moving the goalposts
  • PIF wanted to push the PL with a statement but instead just pulled out
  • They also believe some clubs pushed against it happening
  • Ashley asked for more money but it apparently wasn't an issue
  • Ashley believed to be fuming that its fell through
  • The American fella, Mauriss, isn't all that interested
  • Mandy Staveley had been house hunting up until a few days ago

I'll put some thoughts on tomorrow when I have time, but there's loads with this. Its bad for Newcastle really. I had felt the PL would reject them. The fact the Saudi's have just pulled out, and the Reuben Brothers have as well seems to hint at something quite severe going on.

Don't expect to see the Saudi's ever looking to invest in a PL team again, if they get into football again, I suspect a French/Spanish club will be their particular choice.

The PL will not allow them to get involved. Indeed a precadent as been set now, whereby in all honesty I do not see any takeover akin to City being allowed again (whereby a country takes over). It will be almost impossible for them to allow it to be agreed, and clear enough teams do't want it to happen.

As for Newcastle, this Mauriss fella seems very dubious. Could just be a plant for Ashley. Also a bit of reading around it suggests they are in trouble, phrases such as "asset strip" being thrown around about Ashley and what he will do. Nobody is paying £300m + for them in this climate, so will need his money paying back somehow.

Massive popcorn moment, and it will only get better.

The Saudi's screwed themselves by the state publicly banning one of the PL's broadcast partners because of them being based in a rival country. The Horsepunchers should be aiming their anger at them not the League

Who is steve wraith and why does he have a blue tick?
Media, promoter and reporter. He’s been running actual panel shows every week on their takeover, even had an Arab on the panel. To say he’s devo’d is an understatement. His delusion that it’s ‘back on’ seems to stem from Staveley crying her eyes out as she watches 2 1/2 years of greasing and her gifted 10% equity stake (her fee) disappear round the U bend without her getting a penny piece, so through the tears she said ‘it’s not over’. Only it is.

There's nothing fro Ashley to consider. The Saudi's have pulled out, citing it's now economically unviable. I suspect the damage of the covid world (which will take years to recover) and anger at the PL have motivated this, as well as an unwillingess to bend on piracy rules. I suspect thats also part of the inviability they mention.

It doesn'treally matter what Ashley thinks, however given they've stayed up, I'd imaginehe will want to milk Newcastle more than ever now.
The Saudis have wanged it before they were rejected imo, to save face. They’ve also run out of time on their exclusivity agreement so Ashley can talk to to other interested parties, as is doing.
