Midfield played well. Our forward line has very little movement though, and when they do get it, they immediately turn back and play it backwards.

Unless gray and iwobi got knocks, can't understand the decision to take them off. Gordon offered very little whereas both our half chances came from gray.

Many issues.

1. First half - terrible. Midfield overrun
2. Second half - fix midfield but front 3 toothless
3. Too many unforced errors

Front 3 are not staying closer to each other and our wingbacks are not comfortable with overlapping runs or inverted runs (Myko and Coleman) - how we miss Patterson. No coincidence our attack became toothless with Patterson injured. Patterson offers that extra width and runs.

No overlap runs means Gray and Gordon has no options to pass when receive the ball. Our midfielders doesn't always drift out wide to offer support - and so clearly, we are just going to pass the ball to Gray to create something. That predictability allowed Newcastle to never allowed any space and never allowed any 1v1 situation.

The midfield didn't play well. They gave zero service to the front line.
