New take on an old idea to combat profanity.

Currently, we have a profanity filter, an automated filth censor, to take out the rude, derogatory, taboo words our societies deem a little too colourful for everyday use.

Well mostly this is at the behest of our somewhat more sensitive American cousins, as words such as [Poor language removed], ****, **** and [Poor language removed] (watch that censor go!) are in everyday common usage in Liverpool and the rest of England.

Of course the automated censor is not infallible. As seen for example in the English sentence, "Oft would your grandmother show me her beef curtains." I believe that was from Dickens' Nicholas Nickleby.

We can all agree that for the most part, we should be reining in our swearing a little. Profanity being the refuge of those of weak vocabulary - or some such nonsense.

But this is an adult website and forum is it not (I hope it is, otherwise we are pushing gambling onto minors)? Therefore can't we all take a little swearing, the odd feck word?

What I propose is to take the swearing auto censor off and instead have a swear box.

We are then actively censoring ourselves, a fair better test of will and restraint. Anyone found to have used profanity, a multiple offender say, would have to pay a small sum to the GOT admin.

This will have the added benefit of contributing some much needed cash to the site.

What do you all think? A decent idea or not?

While a good idea, how do we get people to actually participate?

A yes, while this is a website aimed at adults, we do have minors who frequent the site. Honestly, I like the lack of swearing, it makes it so much more pleasant of a place to frequent. If you want mindless swearing, then WSAG and Kipper are only a few keystrokes and mouse-clicks away. We are actually quite lenient in our moderation of swearing, and I think we have found a happy medium,

I've never bought into the idea that those who swear have a limited vocabulary. Surely if I use swear words and you don't then my profanity laden vocabulary is actually bigger than yours?

Ive trimmed up a bit since then mate.

I actually do have a photo of me next to Lennon on that same bench in Havana. They have a guy employed by the government to guard him all day and put the wire glasses on him, when he leaves he takes them with him so they don't get pinched.

I think its cheaper to fly into Varadero, its about one and a half hours away and has loads of charter flights which tend to be cheaper sometimes.
