Its an interesting point. What would happen if some leagues cancelled but others didn't? Who would champions league places go to? Would players want to leave a club if they knew the next season wasn't going to happen. what would happen to transfer windows and restrictions per season?
So many questions that seem to be conveniently ignored...
They should just (but won't) cancel next season's Champions League and Europa League trophies and make it a domestic-only season. Write off this season aside from trophies already won, i.e. City and the League Cup.
If cancelling next year's European competition isn't an option, UEFA should give each FA a set date by which to complete all remaining domestic games, before the players take a break prior to the new season. Extend the season until middle of July - an extra 8 weeks - and have each FA demonstrate that they can begin games middle July, and if not, or if a further suspension is brought in, then the league is null and void with immediate effect.
That would mean the FA has 6 weeks now to put a plan together to play out the remaining games. I can't see how this can be achieved with the virus not even at its worst level yet, and with the NHS so stretched meaning they have no capacity to assist with football games, which surely must be the very, very bottom of the barrel in terms of priority.
For me, unless the FA wants to really, really put finance before health, there is no way a season can be completed any time this summer, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if they forced it through.
