New Stadium or Redeveloped Goodison?

Which would you prefer?

No it wouldn't. As I mentioned above it is melting my brain that people keep saying this.

The docs have been in the public domain for YEARS which show the re-development possibilities at Goodison.
As with others, you're concentrating solely on the fact that it is possible which most people with an iota of intelligence will accept there is.

The real issue is the feasibility of the plan: the cost; the time scale required and any fiscal negatives from this. All that compared to the benefits.

Where would the vital parking offered from the Park End be relocated to? Would the archaic Bullens with it's restricted view not be updated?

How about the Street End where I sit? Will we keep the obstructed views here and still have to live with minimal facilities for catering etc?

Simply adding extra numbers of seats onto two sections of the ground will not negate the other pressing issues which we currently have.

In my humble opinion, to truly bring Goodison up to a high and future proof standard that will facilitate future growth is both costly and difficult.

Also, if we do start rebuilding the stands such as the Street End and the Bullens (both difficult with footprint) then we'll lose the heritage anyway.

It will all boil down to the cost and difficult compared to the benefits in the long-term; short-term gains will not be in their interest.

You've completely missed the point of my post. I was replying to people who were either saying (a) it isn't possible or (b) it isn't possibly without knocking down a lot of houses.

I'm glad you agree with me that it is possible.

I have posted about this extensively before on numerous occasions over the last year or so. I have no interest in repeating myself today which is why I mentioned the documentation which answers all the questions you have just asked. And who said anything about "Simply adding extra numbers of seats onto two sections of the ground"? (btw please accept my apologies I haven't got the time to search for the links to these now)

Professionals such as Trevor Skempton (responsible for the St James Park rebuild) and Tom Hughes disagree with you. btw you've also made a false assumption that the Bullens Road can't be extended in a way that keeps the heritage.

Unless you are an architect, I hardly think any of us really know exactly what would need to be done to get Goodison up to scratch, It just seems to big a job and a long drawn out process.

Doing Goodison right would probably require tearing down all the stands and rebuilding new (whether you move them or not), so I'd guess it would take 1-2 extra years and £100M more (*I'm not an architect).

If we do redevelop Goodison, I want Jo and Chip Gaines to do it. Always impressed with their work. Very thorough.

She'd clear out the obstructed views. Imagine her presenting Moshiri with his options. "We have £2,000,000 left over, so we want to know if you want brick pavers at the entrances, a new french door in the office, or we can build two giant fingers where Walton Motors used to be."

Unless its 65,000 plus capacity, there really isn't any financial sense in building a new ground that is only slightly bigger than a redeveloped GP would be.

Redevelop Goodison.

Of course there is. Lets not kid ourselves in thinking that the reason to build a new stadium is because we need more seats. I'd be happy with 50k-55k max. I don't want the new goodison park to be half full like at the etihad when we're at home to a low-mid table team because we have an oversized stadium. We're a tight, core group of fans and there's no shame in that. I don't want to be commercial such as Liverpool/Man Utd etc...

Lets build a new fortress with a moat around it.

I like it, away fans have to bring their own boats to get across and we get to fire burning arrows from our crossbows at them from our Everton Tower.

Make it happen Moshiri!!

What if it's crap and in a dump of an area?

Why would the stadium be crap? I could understand before like the kirby stadium looked [Poor language removed] but we should have the funds now to build a top stadium. As for the area walton park hall seems viable. Goodison as great as a stadium it is (nostalgic values and history) i just think the redevelopment would take to long and be too expensive. Look at spurs stadium plans they look incredible

Because Stadiums are expensive and you don't become a billionaire by spending excessively. I seriously worry about any potential new ground being good enough. I don't know of any new English grounds which I have been impressed with. As for Walton Hall Park, that location isn't good enough for us before a single brick has been layed. The Spurs ground does like decent, but I'll reserve judgement until I visit it for real.

A new ground should be that good it lasts us 100 years. It's best to hold off until we get it 100% right, in both design and location. NSNO.

Why is WHP not good enough for us?
