New Stadium: Everton to meet L.C.C.

The problem with your logic is that GP as it stands cannot accommodate those income generating bites such as corporate stands that it needs. OK, you've shoved a photo shopped version onto the landscape on GP and "it fits". Assuming that you've done it exactly to scale, and that it meets the GP expectations.

The issue is not that GP can't be re-developed (I'm not sure who has ever made that argument), the question is how?

.

The club did. They said that re-developing Goodison was NOT possible. very clearly. But did not say give specific reasons.

That is what I am responding to.

I'm not saying we should excavate Benifca's ground and import it to GP (only City could afford that:D )

But my point is : A football stadium COULD be built on this site. By a good architect and a Bob the builder. capacity and facilities depends how much we can squeeze out of the space.

Is there anyone on this forum who is a builder or geologist? I know it sounds stupid but at least we know we can build on the GP land as there is already a stadium there.

Anywhere else and your looking at millions just to check the 'new' site is ok. old waste disposal, gas pipes, sinking land, soil quality, voles, transport, services.

We'd still have hiccups developing GP but surely not as risky???

Does no-one agree?

The problem would be, where do we play and the lost revenue that would happen while we are tearing down the old Goodison to build the new Goodison. Add on top the price of this and we simply cant afford this with the current board.

But saying that, theres very little we can afford.

I knew someone would rumble me...

Benfica built their new ground literally next to the old one. At one point they had 2 stadiums half built. I think they sort of played between them, as they were being knocked down (reduced capacity) google it for images.

but your right. playing on Stanley Park ain't happening..

damn you goat!!! :P

Fair play, most of my arguments have gigantic holes that I'm hoping no one spots too.

Every idea suggested will have major flaws. Lets face it, we aint leaving Goodison anytime soon. I reckon the plan is,

Wait till the RS build theirs, wait a few years, then Bill be out 1 night with his spanner, he will make 1 of the roofs fall down. Then the RS will have no choice but to let us share.

You know what Goat, you are right. Even if the RS were broke they would some how find a way to build a stadium before us.

I reckon we are complicating things.

Someone from Everton has seriously pissed off LCC. probably shagged their wife or something trivial like that.

I bet if we REALLY knew what was going on, we would be shocked. Their must be a handful of people who make these decisions, and they are only human, so hate each other.

Reading that exert about a week in the life of Davey Moyes made me realise I know absolutely nothing about what goes on behind closed doors. even LCC's large expensive oak ones.!!!!

Not true. At the enquiry they explained the reasons / excuses (take your pick) about the difficulties surrounding the re-development of GP. To summarise they were;

1. The footprint for GP they want is bigger than your photoshopped example suggests. As a consequence they would have to;

(a) get the Council to compulsory purchase a private business (that car junk place I believe), close down a school and move pupils elsewhere and compulsory purchase and knock down 15 houses.

(b) with no development partner, they would have to find £200m.

GP can be developed, so long as we can get over the problems stated above. Despite me being a mug (Davek's words) and being a broad supporter of the board, even I don't think they have the wit to find £200m. And as I stated earlier, Billionaires don't buy stadia, they build teams. The chicken has to go before the egg so to speak.

Even if that came about the essential problem would still be Everton funding their end of a deal. I really dont think Bradley will budge in tis upcoming meeting from his stated viewpoint of July '07 concerning what needs to be done:

"Tesco have tried hard to come up with a solution, but the problem is Everton at the moment does not have the money itself to invest in a new quality stadium. That is why the club should realise it is time for new partners to move in. Manchester City and Southampton are the latest clubs to attract new investors, so why not Everton which is after all the sixth top club in the English Premiership?"

If Everton's circumstances haven't changed, how can we expect movement from the council? I reckon sites will be put forward by LCC and even possible enabling partners, but I believe they'll be looking for the club to provide some evidence they can put together their cash...something they were never able to do in the whole of the Kirkby saga.

Oh, I love you and Bradley, I can see those new partners now beating the back door to bust into the club to take ove or become partners. Bradley, who worked hand in glove with Keioc with their blue haddock scheme to try and wreck the vote is trying to be a statesman. He's no more than a double dealing politician.

In the same way that I am glad that Wyness is out of the equation, I had hoped beyond hope that this jumped up politician would be gone. I just hope this happens at the next election.

I won't respond to the issue of the finance because with your wasted talent for turning everything anti the board if they had got the money you'd be accusing them of being hand in glove with the government. As it is they didn't need to prove they had the money (it was not a requirement of the inquiry) because no decision had been made. I'd say that was sensible financial prudence.

There is a real issue related to raising substantial finances, as there is a real issue about the future ownership of Everton. While you're ready to sell out to any two bit dealer so long as Kenwright leaves, there are now too many examples that the "fit and proper person's test" of the FA is a joke. Newcastle, Notts County, Portsmouth, West Ham, Watford, Man Utd anyone?

I just hope that Bradley is not going to use this as an opportunity to advance his own keioc agenda of anti the current board.

Oh just get it all over and done with as this whole stadium thing is getting tedious, boring and not doing anyone any favours.

One straight jacket for Davek (please (y):P:P(y))

PS Happy New Year to you all.

This, this, a thousand times this. I'm sure I've read this thread a million times already!

 Imagine how lively it's going to get if we ever get something worth discussing - beyond the fact that there's a meeting between some people who'll probably chat as much [Poor language removed] as we do on here (& I may be flattering them there), there's not a lot to get worked up about, yet. There's little point in rehashing old arguments that may become redundant as things develop - we'll just have to wait for any new proposals, etc. so we can have new arguments.
