New stadium capacity

As the stadium gets higher the seats become more expensive to build and generate much less income. That's the reason they gave another 10k seats could have added 50% cost onto the build.
A greater capacity would have allowed for considerably more premium priced seats without impacting upon 'normal priced' seating, and the premium seating costs would offset the additional build costs.
It's typical short-sightedness on behalf of the major shareholder, chairman and CEO who simply haven't got the ambition. foresight and wherewithal to take the club to where we need to be in order to compete with all those clubs run considerably more competently... and already way ahead of us in terms on competitiveness and commerciality.

The stadium already has a considerable premium seat section.

Building more only serves to increase the cost, empty seats cost money.

Imagine having a pop at Moshiri about ambition, 500m spent on players, hired 1 of the best managers in the world, but lacks ambition, ok mate.

Two of the repeated weak arguments, Juventus and safe standing.
Who cares about an Italian club, this is Everton in the PL. I think you have to measure Everton with the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, City for the size of stadium. We're not a successful side but we expect success. We still get sold out in a very dated and post filled ground. Never mind the attraction of a brand new waterfront stadium Sunderland did show what does happen. As for safe standing it's supposed to be 1:1 so it won't increase the capacity. Next? Size envy? Small is bigger? Last ticket sold is the costliest seat?

I also remember us having a pop and a good old laugh about the kopites trying to charge fans 70 quid for a seat.

Yet some people think we should do the same.

:hayee:

52k full every week is worth more to us than 62k 80% full every week.

Every empty seat costs us money.

People are kidding themselves if they think we get 62k for Burnley.
Agreed about the 62,000 but 52,000 is far too low. We get a full house for Burnley now. Don't forget that's after 25 years without success. Have in mind too that BMD will be accommodating some 4,500 more corporate/hospitality areas and the away section will be a thousand or so bigger than at GP. So the actual increased availability of tickets for Everton home support is only around 8,000. But what most people seem to ignore when saying 52,000 is about right is the history of new stadia, and that typically they generate 20%+ bigger crowds (no, I can't explain that size of increase either). Also ignored is the stated aim to attract support amongst casual visitors to the city.
