My old fella went in 1964,a cup tie(we got battered 3-0!!)I know he has told me in the past there was over 60,000 there that day.Roker Park was 22000 only cos it was shagged out though. It wasnt a reflection of your support base.
You’re not joking with your username.I was at Goodison when they had over 78,000 (still the record) so 62,000 doesn't sound over the top,
I know which orifice ours will go in.Building stadiums is pointless
In the future people will experience virtual football by inserting a season socket into an as yet undetermined orifice

Just take him back! While you are here, don't suppose there is any chance of a refund for Pickford is there ?
Well I guess this confirms that Orly no longer frequents GOT.Orly ,its time.
I think selling out every week brings its own problems. The next generation of kids will struggle to get a ticket. People work less set hours so booking ahead for a ticket is not always possible.I think with 52k we're being sensible. Cant remember the exact figures but we currently have around 32,000 STH and a waiting list of over 10,000.
So with 42k STH seats, 7k members & general sale, 3k away fans including in those numbers will be the corporate options that some will take up.
I think we would struggle to fill a 60k+ stadium on a regular basis. We would be fine to begin with but unless we're playing really well we'd end up in a situation like Arsenal with many pockets of empty seats everywhere unless it's the derby or United etc.
Keep the capacity down, the ticket prices reasonable, an in house system to re sell your ticket back to the club at face value (like the refund process we're getting at the moment) or the option to gift a ticket free of charge to someone on your friends & family account (My Grandad did this for me with Spurs and it works well).
It doesn't have to be a competition about who has the biggest capacity stadium it needs to be the best matchday experience. My favourite German team Eintracht Frankfurt have a 52k stadium and they seem to get it spot on with that.
But the new stadium still feels like such a long way away still a lot of hurdles to pass with or without COVID.
