New Squad Numbers 14/15

Taking a number off a player, unless they ask to change, is a proper slap in the face. It doesn't matter how useless a player might be, it's not on to completely show them disrespect by taking an established number off them and giving it to someone else. We're not the type of club who would do that.

Walter did a few puzzling ones. Stripping Ball of #3 & giving it to Pistone always grated with me, especially as both lads were there for the coming season.

Squad numbers mean alot less to me than they used to, but I'm still not crazy about Oviedo with #8 & things like that.

To me, unless you're Desailly, Matthaus, Djorkaeff, Jorge Campos etc & specifically have a mad number that you insist on, your first 11 should be made up of the traditional. If you buy a LB & #3 (or MAYBE #6) aren't available, give him #12 or above.

And although it wasn't a traditional format, I thought Holland lining up 1-11 in the first 2 WC games was proper cool.

So now the kits out can we assume there's no changes? Or are we gonna have loads of angry parents returning Barkley 20 kits in a few weeks.

Not that I'm bothered, like

No. 16; having had a heavy night I was last one in the dressing room come first game of the season all that was left was 16, but then I remembered Reidy being left blowing for tugs chasing Maradonna...that's me that is... kept for a few years... PS was never late again honest

Yep, loads of angry parents. I tweeted Everton last week about selling new shirts with potentially out of date squad numbers on, they basically said: 'everyone else is doing it, so we are too'.

Noticed a few changes last night..

17 Hope
19 Lundstram
27 Browning
30 Alcaraz

At first I thought because it was a friendly maybe they'd only taken so many shirts but McAleny was still in 35 and Long still had 41.

If those changes are permanent its nice to see RM giving the young lads decent squad numbers

1 Joel
2 Hibbert
3 Baines
4 Gibson
5
6 Jagielka
7 McGeady
8 Oviedo
9 Koné
10
11 Mirallas
12
13
14 Naismith
15 Distin
16 McCarthy
17 Hope
18 Barry
19 Lundstram
20 Barkley
21 Osman
22 Pienaar
23 Coleman
24 Howard
25
26 Stones
27 Browning
28
29 Garbutt
30 Alcaraz
31 Kennedy
32
33
34 Duffy
35 McAleny
36
37
38 Pennington
39
40
41 Long
46 Ledson

I Reckon #5 Besic, #10 Lukaku, #28 Traoré if they all sign

Someone tweeted that Henen will wear #39 due to being a fan of Anelka, leaving Grant without a number so he'll be allocated a new one I'd guess, maybe a few of the others will fill the numbers left by Lundstram/Browning etc, maybe Stanek, Green, McLaughlin, C.Duffus etc will take them. Also Junior's #30 shirt being taken by Alcaraz leaves him without a number but I don't think anyone expects him to stick around

I think Hope and Lundstram will probably be keeping there old squad numbers and have got temporary numbers just to fill the gaps whereas I think Browning 27 will be his new number. The strange change is Alcaraz from 32 to 30 whats that all about you would have thought if 30 was a special number he would have taken it last season.

Didn't Junior still have it last season? Alcaraz may have wanted it, but it was taken. Like Pienaar & #20.

We're not talking Berkgamp demanding #10 & Merson moving to #9 really. Probably just got told he'd have to wait.
