The premier league package, or rather, division one as I alone still call it, is rapidly shooting past my interest. All this money is pouring in, to advertise dubious and nefarious tat, and we're supposed to cheer. Why? All the other clubs get extra cash too, so there's no advantage, we're all just standing still while stripping ourselves of our dignity and pride.

Where does the money go? To hire transient mercenaries to fill the slot vacated by local heroes of the past, who you'd meet on the bus. These mercenaries have been paid way beyond their worth, and beyond what normal people could dream about in a lifetime, for over a decade, and it's just accelerating. Why the hell should we cheer this obscenity?
