What determines if the name is arced or not?

The club can do it however they want (arced or straight) for league matches but they have to use the league's letters and numbers.
For cup/Europe matches the club can use whatever letters and numbers they want. Maybe the typeset we're using in those matches looks better with flat lettering.
I was referring to the below, EPL seem to be fine with both, just odd DELE is arced but HAZARD is straight.
