It's of historical significance. It's the colours favoured by Kaisser Wilhelm II, German Emperor during the period of some of Everton's earliest successes in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Wearing this jersey, Tim Howard will be inspired to keep clean sheets every week.

...

I don't give a stuff about away kits or goalkeeper kits. As long as the blue jersey remains as first kit - they're Everton players inside the shirt.

I just wish there was less 'furniture' on the shirt. I yearn for a clean simple blue shirt with no badges, sponsors or EPL logo. Just like in the 1966 cup final.

Is it my imagination or is the 'blue' that the boys wear today different to the royal blue of my childhood? Doesn't seem to be the same colour somehow.

I've never bought a keeper kit.

But it looks quite expensive for a set of Everton pajamas.
