New Everton Stadium

The fella who's doing the marquee over the road talking about us playing Roma at BM in July?

A July friendly match would make sense, potentially as a test event (although it would probably only be home supporters if that were the case - correct me if I am wrong). Prior to going to the US for the PL Summer Series, we would be facing high quality opposition - unlike some of the teams we have faced in pre-season in recent years.

That tourno is getting a lot of advertising on US sports TV too.

I would like to think that we have an array of ways in which we could promote ourselves to US fans. The two which spring to mind immediately are the connection we have to Tim Howard and Jason Kidd's investor position.

If we could win that competition, we could maybe pick up a few fans. Just so long as regular season matches are not getting staged over there, this tournament may benefit us in a promotional sense.

Hopefully we can also showcase our fantastic new stadium during pre-season as well. The Roma friendly would be one way of showcasing the stadium to a wider audience.

What did he say mate?
He basically said he doesn’t give a hoot about the new stadium and the fans will be fractured etc, etc. I just wish he’d start being a little more positive. I always wanted him at the club in some way or form, not sure I would now. But, maybe he has been treated badly by the club too, not sure?

Why does he think the fanbase will be fractured, did he say?

I went to see him do a podcast for TNT Sports in London a couple of months ago. His main point was that the fans make the club and it will take time to bed in to the new stadium as people will be sitting next to different people, have new routines etc and the atmosphere that has grown at Goodison will take time to build at BMD.

Keeping GP provides a back up if the rumoured delays to BMD are true.
I’ve been told that BMD is 90% on track so hopefully they’ll get it done in time including safety certification etc.
Not ideal but apparently there are a number of LOR issues that will need resolving such as the concrete is cracking because they dried it too quick.
The recent pitch relay was not in the original plans - it was required because the foundations weren't deep enough to hold rugby posts.
This is not total nonsense. I went on the Corporate seats tour of the ground and they said that the relaying of the pitch was to put in deeper foundations for the rugby league posts. They did not however say there would be any consequent delays to any if the other works and they said the pitch would be pitch perfect.

Cool that would have been awesome, absolutely love the fella.
