New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

got down there about 7pm on Monday, as wanted a bit of time to time to grab a scran in the plaza, and avoid the previous queueing problems I’d had at turnstile 2.

As it turned out the plaza was chocka at that point already, so headed in the ground early, and walked straight in turnstile 2 without any queue at all. Grabbed some scran and a pint from the e bar, no problems, and took the opportunity to have a walk round the concourse, which was good.

Atmosphere was a bit flat, for sure, but honestly no different to goodison. Few moments where it perked up, but no sustained singing. For me, that’s in part down to a poor selection of songs we’ve got. We’ve got nothing that’s the type of low, rhythmic, droning chants that can be sustained for long periods. It’s all short bursts of “Everton”, or the ”Pickford song”.

We’re gonna get the “you sold your soul, For this -hole” chant from away fans every game, but thought it was particularly egregious from West Ham fans, with their abomination of a ground.

Getting back was fine, walked back to town, and took me about an hour to get home, pretty much same as from Goodison.

There’s big floodlights by the bridge, which was good, but think they need some for right outside the wall, as some old timer had missed the step off the kerb on to the road, and gone over, and was being helped up by a few around him. Gonna be a few turned ankles if they don’t light that up a bit.

It’s getting better, I reckon. But let’s have it right about the Goodison atmosphere, it was sound for about 4 or 5 games a season, and the rest was a morgue. A new stadium isn’t gonna change that.

Lots of concerns in this thread. I can see walking back when it's cold, wet and windy is not going to be very pleasant for those of a certain vintage, or with kids.

People are being daft.

I walked to town after the game perfectly fine.

I’ve not had an issue yet. It’s up to people to find the best ways in and out the ground instead of wanting the club to do everything for them.

It’s different for people with mobility issues though and I think more could be done to accommodate them.

I get where you're coming from but the worry is if it is a pain for people to get to the they'll just bin it off over the next few years.

And that's the base we should work from, surely.

You're only as good as how you treat people who are the most vulnerable.

Should if they haven't a big disabled car park area all I saw coming up to the ground was disabled badge cars park on double yellow lines everywhere blocking alot of lanes was causing chaos before and after..

?
Monday night games are a bit of a pain, but only cause of national public transport. I got home at about 12:30, and I only live 19 miles down the road. Its been fine for me on all games prior to Mondays.

Got home roughly the same, I live in Widnes used, we drive to Hunts Cross, which was choca, only one poor guy at the terminal. Then from Hunts Cross to Sandhills return. Got in the Plaza had no problems seeing our photo's on the fan wall and getting food, got in the North end easily no queue. Way home was different not enough exits for me and if trouble arose between fans, who don't seem to be segregated coming out, it will be impossible to control, I feel away fans should be kept in 15 minutes, for that reason, it's a crush getting out of the gates. Going to Sandhills it is so well organised, separate queues for each terminal, herded on the station platform after those bloody stairs :). Then you are shouted at, no other way, to move down the platform, the annoying thing for me the trains are okay but the first one, when we got there was to Central station, hardly anyone got on, the next train 4 minutes later was again to Central, 8 cars, only two people got on, the station platform chocka bloc, the eight cars were practically empty. 5 minutes later the train everyone wanted to Hunts Cross arrived, ONLY FOUR CARS ! imagine trains in India ! They were that full.
Surely they should change the trains so they go where people need them, hopefully a learning process. Luckily our fans were in good humour throughout.
