New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

All the club want in terms of flags and banners is this:

Haha. If people like it sound, a few venues catering to that is great but it’s every single venue. You can’t hear yourself think.

Miss the black horse
it might be we're getting old murph, just want a bev and and a bit of a catch up, not the latest socialist 4 string garbage down me ears
Ah cr4p, I'll ditch me banjo then.

Tambourine anyone? 😉
Might be less stressful than watching the blues

Something has got to be done about the about atmosphere. We might as well have a soulless bowl for a ground if that's the kind of atmosphere we can expect. Its worse then having a soulless bowl because you can tell that the noise would be unbelievable if anyone was arsed. I'm sick and tired of "shall we sing a song for you" and "we forget that you where there" being the most sung songs at our home games.

Our match going fanbase is a deadly mix of two factions.

1. Old/middle aged gammony blokes who are fatigued with Everton and life in general, who just want a moan and a vessel to vent their anger through.

2. Too cool for school uber Scouse Montirex shagging kids who are more arsed about sneering at people’s trainers and “buzzing off wools” than they are about singing, which is cringe and wool behaviour.

These two factions are not only toxic on their own, but they also absolutely hate and are at war within each other. The only realistic cure for this sickness is to purge one or both of them from the fanbase.

They had more than those surely? Where’s the long one with all the number 9s and the Super Kev one etc?

They’ve defo had bigger ones than that on display at GP in the past haven’t they?
Am I alone in thinking that those flags (predominantly blue) get lost in a sea of blue seats?

I think they're right to ask the club for a donation to get bigger banners in, but if I were them Ild give it a go with those - because backgrounded by fans who aren't predominantly dressed in blue they'll stand out more than they think.

As said, that's not to detract from their petitions for more cash from the club in any way.

We need atmosphere in that ground and any attempt for now at providing it should be taken before much bigger tiff displays can be displayed.

Speaking as a gammon, we have 2 of these behind us who are driving us mad. Even older than me, they verbally moan and curse their way through every game. Not sure why they come - they even moan about their seats ("too high"). It's becoming exhausting.

The upper south is not much different from upper street end, for me. Good atmosphere and singing during exciting moments.
Unfortunately we haven’t had a lot of exciting periods so far this season.

Goodison was the exact same bar a couple of games each season. I don't know why people are making out like it wasn't.

I've said over and over that Goodison was dreadful for at least ten years arguably its closer to twenty. I'm not blinded by sentiment over Goodison. I had foolishly hoped that a fresh start would do us good but instead its just more of the same without the comfort of what we knew. The new ground was and is the chance to start a singing section. That would never have worked at Goodison. New ground, new start. Now is the chance to change things.

I was there last night in the East Lower, fairly close to the South Stand.

The atmosphere wasn't electric or anything but there were sections of fans at various points trying to get songs going and it was loud in spells.

I'm not understanding the praise for the West Ham fans either. Like Villa they stood in silence themselves for large spells, but obviously being the away support, when they got on top in the second half and witnessed a goal in front of them, they were able to get behind the team well. First Half especially they didn't impress me.

Have heard the Ground sounded silent on TV but that's not the perception I got of last night from where I was, although admittedly there were quiet periods.

Same with me in the SW. The two next to me sold in the next tranche yet I've never seen the same people twice.

Can count on one hand the number of times people have stood in the upper tiers at Goodison for a corner in the 40+ years I've been going.
I do think they didn't execute the standing areas well enough though and would have liked to see more of it in the South and North ends. Maybe the U14 ban has something to do with it as yu'd be forcing families into other areas.
Next headache will be hpw they handle people moving seats as I'm sure there will be loads wanting to move after this season.

I cringe at writing this, but the club should have thought about a singing section from the outset at the new ground, just to try and kick-start some atmosphere. I think we’re going to labour through this period until we get our lift-off moment.

For years we could all gravitate to where we wanted to be. I served my time in the Gwladys but was in the Park End for the last few years.
I’ve always thought our support was natural - we don’t need music after a goal, we don’t want some tools with trumpets or drums.
In this modern era of football, we were the blast from the past, but with the new stadium we are being dragged into the sterile new world.
Ultimately, long standing fans are being priced out of top level football, to be replaced by consumers- people who go to a few matches a season but buy all the gear and wave their flags, and have kids who hold up cardboard signs saying “Pickford can I have your gloves”
