New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

The club have already tried on two occassions to incorporate a MSCP in the stadium design. The only reason it was never included is because LCC had issues with how it looked rather than any traffic concerns. They have also now converted the entire Nelson Dock footprint to a temporary surface car park, so there is clearly a need for matchday and event parking, a need that will increase further should Nelson Dock be re-developed.

It's one thing promoting sustainable modes of transport for the majority of fans at major events, it's another expecting the venue to be used all year round with only limited visitor parking, especially for people who have paid significant sums of money for the best hospitality packages and those with accessibility issues.

There was talk a while back about also looking at land around the Ten Streets area alongside Nelson Dock, so perhaps this could be an alternative location for some sort of parking solution. Nevertheless, I'll be very surprised if any future development plans do not include some parking provision. I'm talking something in the region of 1,000 spaces. The original proposal was for a 700 space MSCP, this would have relatively limited impact on the surrounding road network.

Worth noting that the temporary car park on Nelson Dock, plus the Western Quay has somewhere in the region of 800-900 spaces in total. As far as i'm aware this all operates without any issues on match days. The club are highly unlikely to just do away with 75% of this if/when they re-develop the area.

There is a very broad usage range between average daily events and matchdays. A small car park easily covers the usual daily usage, including small events. Matchdays are a different story. I've stayed behind for both afternoon matches and the traffic on Grt Howard St has been gridlocked well over an hr after each. The Shuttle buses had practically ground to a halt. A 4 min journey taking up to an hour. So there are major issues that need resolving as regards traffic. While that's the case a multistorey car park on the dock estate is probably not advisable.

You don’t put down hundreds of parking spaces on the dock you’re leasing for fun, you do it because you need them.

Ideally, they’ll want to keep that capacity once the dock is developed - and the only way to do that is a multi-storey.

When something is happening at the ground, that carpark would be for match/event day staff and guests, not general public access. They’ll wait out the road closures before being allowed to leave.

Yes, provided it's for corporates/guests only. Otherwise any immediate car parking is supposed to be for those with mobility issues only. Even staff can be bussed in from Goodison. Road space is at a premium all around the site and the Grt Howard St bus lane needs to be firmed up at least to the Junction with Leeds St /Strand to work properly.

what food is on offer there?

The quickest I've got away by bus was Mansfield when the bus lane was protected all the way to Leeds St. as you suggest . Other games cars have been joining from the direction of Love Lane , where there is parking , resulting in gridlock. Buses and cabs need to be given priority but easier said than done.

The road infrastructure isn't there, and the heritage people don't want a multi-storey on the riverside. I mused over this a few months back, there absolutely is the need for the city and the riverside to warrant a significant vehicle storage solution.
Somewhere in this square.

It would probably require a significant connecting road heading east to a main arterial road, but that'll take some fixing.
City hotels, all the music venues and stadia holding events would benefit from a purpose built cctv covered safe car parking option. There must be a solid business plan for such a development because it frees up other space and encourages further business developments. It's about making visiting the city convenient. Look across the country atm, and see the train bus and tube strikes. Plan B is always a help.
I've always thought that this patch of land would be ideal for a multistorey car park.

It looks similarly sized to the ones near the M&S Bank Arena.

The boozers in Dale Street have deffo had letters from the licensing and visits from the plod about people drinking outside, they don't want everyone walking round with bottles and glasses when the more headcase teams come to visit.

It's not just Dale Street, but it's all been caused by one boozer (hint, it's on North John Street) allowing people to stand outside when their license (which they break all the time) prohibits it
