New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

I'd love to know what it looks like in the ground as I'm only familiar with it at actual Amazon supermarkets. I'd expect there is still staff there to ensure it doesn't descend into chaos. The idea is that you save money (as a business—the saving isn't passed on to the customer) by being able to do without checkouts, but you still need staff there. Sadly I also expect there will be plenty of people trying to figure out how to con the system.
Gotta be careful as it's your card that will be charged

Think does a holding charge of £20
Would make perfect sense. I'd love to see some pictures of the place where they've got it installed. I wonder what happens if somebody uses an expired card or a debit card with no money in the account. They get to leave with the goods then get a letter in the post and banned from the stadium?

Hopefully that would make people think a little more and realise it's not worth it to even try.

The design downstairs by our seat in block 201 is like the house Jack built. They have put the toilets directly opposite the bar so people are coming out of the toilets straight into the people queing for the bar causing a wall of people, meaning anyone walking from the side can't get through. Meanhile their is a huge space to the right of the bar with nonthing at all in it, a very weird desigm imo. Also the toilets didn't seem big enough, about 8 urinals, leading to huge ques at half time.

Feel sorry for anyone who’s got a season ticket in the west stand. 25 minute queue to get in, no escalators, beer was off in one of the resteraunts, queues for drinks/toilets were ridiculous, WiFi was non existent, and there was a leak in the roof. Feels like the non premium areas were just a second thought.

Can’t wait to see what the atmosphere is like. Do think it’ll need some organisation to begin with.

This is frying my brain. You scan your card, walk in, pick up what you want and just leave and you’ll be charged for what you take? How do they know what you’re picking up? And if there’s several people in there at once, isn’t there a danger YOUR card is the one that gets charged for an armful of goods that someone else picks up? I don’t get it.

It tracks YOU. I'm assuming only one person can enter with their card, ie. you can't tap it and enter with your mate. Once you're in you're being tracked, camera follows you detecting what you've got, and your card is deducted once you exit. I have to say, this is a very brave thing for the club to do with a small-ish number of our scally fans in mind.

Was in North Stand, Very impressed with view and stadium in general, few minor things … if you buy a pint and a tray of chicken and fries and got them in each hand it’s impossible to eat or drink properly due to lack of space etc 😂 Everton wifi didn’t connect properly.

Yeah that won’t be there for long. Imagine is playing someone like Liverpool or United and pounding them 3-0 at half time. That place will be ransacked.

My experience. Got there in loads of time to get in, but the queue in to 2 in the North Stand was ridiculous. Missed the first 15 mins of the game. When we eventually got to the gate, seems like the problem was a result of people trying to get in to, or being directed to, the wrong gate.

Gates 1 and 2 were completely empty but queues of hundreds for gate 2. Something not right in terms of organising. Sure they’ll learn and sort it out.

The concourse in the north was chaotic. Couldn’t get a drink, or anything else at half time, the grab and go queue was daft, and the other drink kiosks were rammed (and a couple which weren’t open, with yellow shutters down, presumably, once they’re open, it will help things).

The stadium bowl itself - incredible. Was amazed by how steep the north stand was. It’s a genuine stadium built for football, and Will be fantastic for a proper game, when it gets a bit snarly. Views were fantastic.

Didn’t take public transport, walked to and from the ground from town. A decent walk, on a nice day. Will have to rethink in January.

Invisible Wind Factory was ace, before and after, they were giving the pies away free after the game, which was a pleasant bonus.

Think it will take a while for them to iron the kinks out, but when they do, one of the best stadiums in the league, without question.

EDIT: I’ve been down there a dozen times or so since the build start, including the 2nd test event. But today was the first time it proper stunk. Stood in that queue for half an hour to get into gate 2, it was rank. Proper sewage smell. Hoping it’s a rarity, not a standard.
