The drone controversy is one manifestation of a wider issue as I see it: access to the stadium (and even the site it sits in) is bringing about a lot of frustration.

We need to avoid as a club and a fanbase having supporters labelled as first class, second class, third class. That's always been my fear with the new stadium: exclusivity. We've been a community club decades longer than Liverpool have been and that's because we've been accessible.

Even more than the transportation issue - which will eventually and inevitably be sorted over a matter of years - exclusion is the big danger to our fans.
 

I was over in Liverpool last weekend and went past the new stadium and it is still as impressive as it was when I first saw it. I would have loved to have been able to get inside to have a closer look but that wasn’t to be. As a Town Planner by profession I am used to getting developments to fit the character of the area in which they are sited and to see that ultra modern stadium in its dock land setting is interesting to me. The sleek curved lines and glass facade is in complete contrast to the traditional storage buildings and piles of scrap along the road but somehow it doesn’t jar. It will be an interesting experiment to see how the stadium regenerates the area around it. Can’t wait to get over to see some football being played in it next season but first I have to get over for my last Goodison game.

Will be open during the week and when we are playing proper games the gates will be open, suspect for the first event they wanted to control who came into the plaza with building work ongoing and due to the license of the event

The club will want to make money 7 days a week from the lounges, stadium tours, club shop etc, maybe they'll do a spurs and find somewhere to put a karting track 😀

These things need to happen sooner rather than later.

When people see others getting access it'll naturally build up resentment and feelings of exclusion. As far as I'm aware there's no timetable for those events you mention.

The stadium isn't ready/open yet, the internal fit out is still in progress and we don't have the licence for events yet

I'm assuming all of these things will start after the first game of next season or maybe slightly earlier in the summer once the various licenses have been granted
 
Ps I don't think exclusion is an issue when we are adding more seats to allow more Evertonians to go to the game, when we are improving facilities on key areas like disabled facilities, toilets for females, better family area etc, this is a huge leap for inclusion
 
Came down on the side of the fence of thinking i’ll wait for a full house to be my first experience of the new stadium, but equally regretting that choice every time there’s a test event!

The fit out is still happening and will do for a good few months yet.
Still scaffolding under the barrel cladding too.

Why will it build up feelings of resentment?

I’m pretty sure as fans we’ll be bothered about what’s going on on the pitch, and not that some people are drinking in a different bar.

If we were that embittered and miserable, then the Main Stand fans who sit in restricted views, and the fans at the back of the Lower Bullens, would have rioted years ago.

Stop trying to see problems where there aren’t any and enjoy the fact that we’ve got a brand new, shiny stadium. Save your anger for Steve Rotherham.
