New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

They'd do well to keep prices competitive.

People will get to the stadium early out of excitement, and begin to mould their match day routine. What's it's set, it's very difficult to change.

If prices, quality and comfort are there - people will get to the ground and spend. There's currently very little alternatives nearby so give the pull, rather than having everyone in town.

First impressions and all that.

What's good about this is that the new stadium is all over the media, with glowing reviews.

I haven't read back over the many posts, but for those that went last night, how would you sum it up?

It's steep and you feel it in your thighs, but in reality it isn't terrible. If you've sat in the Top Balcony or City away, it's easier than both of those.

I was towards the back last night, and the view was spectacular.
I always found the Top Balcony gave me a bit of vertigo for the first few minutes but the overall view of the game was good. Still not sure whether to go back of a stand but more central, or lower down but more to the side in either the east or the west stand. I’m upper bullens right now. Depends what’s left I suppose

Really don’t get the moaning about the prices of the food from last night. All seemed to fall fairly within the going rate for food at entertainment venues nowadays. Cheaper than many stadiums I’ve been to recently also.

Some items seemed better value for others. I see some people moaning about “£6.60 for a sausage roll!”. Did you see them? They were absolutely massive and triple loaded, and at almost 1400 calories, that’s literally the equivalent to a decent sized full meal, for less than £7 😂
Are the seats bigger (in terms of volumetric capacity) because we're gonna have some bloody big fans about 6 months in...

I'm yet to pick my seat, and there probably won't be a huge amount of choice, but I'm still a bit concerned about sitting up in the gods. Not the view, I reckon it will be spectacular, but the climb up there. I thought my hillwalking days were behind m
As bluelenny said above not a bad view in the house as far as I could tell, I posted earlier that the ground has a compact feel to it all most intimate you could say, and you don’t seem very far from the pitch.

I sat in the Top Balcony for the first time for the Peterborough game (normally Upper Bullens when I get a chance to visit) and if it's less steep than that I don't see it being a massive problem.

I wonder if they are going to work the food and drink with the German-style prepaid loadable cards at some point in the future.
That makes good sense. It`s a bit of a pain if you`re just a one off day tripper, but it works well when its set up. Used the card at Bremen and PSV and it speeds things up at the counter when getting your food.

It's going to feel very different, it already did. Felt like when you are going to Wembley or the Manchester Arena, basically pre-determined routes in and out with stewards lining the street.

It's something that I've taken for granted with Goodison, it's embedded into the middle of life and community. So as such everyone has their own little route that they take, after the game, once you've made that initial shuffle out of the ground you are free to do as you like with plenty of options.

I'm quite sure the experience of getting in and out will become smoother and I'm quite sure both the incentive to stay at the ground or options to go nearby will pop up in time also. But it did really strike me yesterday that match days are set to become more event/concert-like as opposed to this community ritual that has gone on for 130+ years.

I get your point, and I am sure the club will carefully consider pricing based on feedback from test games, and in the simplest sense compare vs. Goodison.

However, we need to be careful not to make too simplistic comparisons between the two, and from that generalisations. I spoke to a friend about it this morning.

I asked him did he have a drink when he goes to London? Did he drink when we were in Norway et al? Of course he said, to which I raised the question of price.

Both are more expensive than Liverpool, the latter far more so, but if people want a drink they'll factor that in: people will either pay it, drink less or not drink.

That's not me promoting free-market capitalism, nor is it saying the club should price what they want (it needs to be sensible). Instead, it's all about compromise.

We usually have a pint at half-time, and I suspect that'll continue even with it costing more. Others may look at the price and say no, which is their prerogative.

If the club price it correctly, like you say, they may get more people in and after the game, which I hope they do. If they don't, it leaves people with a choice.

I know already that I am going to probably spend more in BMD than at Goodison in terms of food, because the selection and quality is far superior!

Isn't pricing out of the hands of the club? I thought Aramark pay us a fixed amount and then they get revenue from what they sell. Could be wrong on that and it could be percentages we are talking about.

Yes there was a lot of congestion at half time considering how big the concourses are. Hopefully when they open the other parts of the ground people will spread out more and after a few games people will find their usual half time spot.
I think because it was a test event most went to the concourse with few staying by their seats. That will balance out more

Slightly tempted to head for the lower south now, just waiting for my cousin's tenure to come up (5th March). For those more informed than me, what do we think the chance is of getting a pair together by then? Appreciate it's a lot of guesswork and probability like
Still lots of seats in the lower south corners.

Great reading the reports on here, and seeing the photos and videos. The pace looks incredible. Even better, in a way, is seeing rave reviews in the national papers - Times, Guardian, Telegraph, all blown away by it.

I'm yet to pick my seat, and there probably won't be a huge amount of choice, but I'm still a bit concerned about sitting up in the gods. Not the view, I reckon it will be spectacular, but the climb up there. I thought my hillwalking days were behind me.
I would definitely pick tier 1 if there are any left. At the front of tier 2 it felt quite high & distant, unless you are a fan of the Top Balcony
