New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Talking of capacity though, I see Birmingham City are planning a 60k stadium. I know Newcastle are looking at ways to expand too.

We should have been looking at minimum 55k.

Birmingham build a 60k stadium, for what ?

They can’t sell out 30k St Andrews so why and if they do get to the prem how are they going to do it with the state of PSR now ?

Newcastle are going to find out how hard it’s going to be building a new ground in the current climate and PSR constraints.

We are honestly lucky we did it when we did and not start now otherwise we would have gone under.

Asked that some weeks ago and that was the main reason I didn't go in there. Seems odd to me why you couldn't wander round and have a bevvy in another bar and then go to Club View . Maybe it's an entirely seperate entrance ?
It is I think, on level 3 which a lot of the hospitality in east and west is

Level 2 is normal access for upper
Level 1 is away fans and family stand
Level 0 is normal access for lower

I could be wrong, haven't studied the plans that closely

It’s mad to say we are lucky to have built when we did, but it’s true, despite the fact we have encountered COVID, lockdowns, the arse falling out of every economy, sanctions against our main funder, premier league doing their utmost to finish us etc. It almost beggars belief that anyone building a new stadium from this point on will find it tougher than what we encountered (unless your Man Utd and you jump into bed with the government). Also not a chance Birmingham build a 60k stadium either, unless it’s one of them utterly [Poor language removed] ones with running track, so they can bid for sporting events etc. One Jasper Carrot was enough so feck 60k penned in together

The 2 things new owners talk about are getting to the PL and building a great new stadium. They`ve got a lot of work to do to get to the PL from where they are and won`t need that sort of capacity even if they do make it.

I think we`ve settled for a good increase in capacity, with all views of the pitch very good, but most importantly increased our corporate capacity as that is where the money is made.

Yeah it’s fair to say planning a stadium and actually building it are very different things (as we know from the last 30 years)

Still think we could have gone a couple of thousand higher, still a huge appetite for Prem footy.

Stadium costs are excluded from PSR.

Then why did we get hit with a points deduction despite reducing our wage bill and selling players when most of our income was going on paying off stadium debts ?

They tried come after us this season because of issues relating to the stadium until they dropped it…..probably because they are gonna clear city of any wrong doing

We fell foul by claiming that our loans were for the stadium but the loan documents said they were loans for normal running costs and working capital so our claims for interest for stadium development were knocked back.

I don’t think Newcastle will need to worry about interest payments on a new stadium. That’s what we got done for on PSR.

wasnt it more specifically that th stadium loans were used as a slush fund/liquidity fund for day to day running before later being spent on the stadium. If it was left in th eval and solely used for the stadium then it wouldnt have counted. Financial semantics

As the words of the song go “I say tomato, you say tomayto”.

They were looking for any excuse to do us and we helped by being lax with our paperwork. It was obvious what the bulk of the loans were being used for but the PL Commission ignored it.
